Joseph Westfall was born June 14, 1782, in Orange County, New York. He was a son of Abraham and Blandina (Van Etten) Westfall. Joseph married Elizabeth, whose last name I don't know. She was born in 1786 and died in the 1830's. She was probably from western PA.
Joseph Westfall's grandparents were Petrus and Arientje (Rosencrans) Westfall. Joseph Westfall's great grandparents were Nicholas and Zara (Van Aken) Westfall. Joseph Westfall's great great grandparent's were Jurian and Marretje (Hansen) Westfall.

Joseph Westfall's gr. gr. grandfather Juriaen Westfall (Westvael) was born in 1629 in Holland. Jurian Westfall was the first recorded Westfall ancestor in America. He came to America in 1642. On August 4, 1642 Jurian Westfall (Juriaen Van Westphalen) arrived in New Amsterdam, New York aboard a ship called "The Houttuyn" from Luyderdorp, Holland. He was only 13 at the time. His family had migrated to Holland from Westphalia in Germany in the 1600's. It is not known whether his parents died in Holland or enroute, or he came with other relatives. He then went up the Hudson River 135 miles arriving at Fort Orange (later Albany) New York on August 11, 1642. He arrived as an indentured servant to killiaen Van Reassalaer. He was placed in the home of Michael Jansen ... Jurian moved south of Albany to Esopus (later Kingston) New York with his friend and fellow indentured servant Evert Pels in about 1653. He was granted 32 morgan (70 acres) of land Sept. of 1654. He married Marretge Jansen that same year. On Aug. 17, 1659 Jurian and 12 others petitioned Peter Stuyvesant to establish a chuch at Wiltwyck (Esopus was briefly named Wiltwyck and later after British rule called Kingston}. Jurian signed with a three pronged fork of trident mark. The church was established. Numerous records regarding Jurian and his descendants are available in records of the then Dutch Reformed Church of New York.

The following information is from a book "American Nomads" written by Emily Stowell whose ancestor Jacob Kuykendall married Sara Westfall daughter of Johannes.... The Esopus Indians lived near Wiltwyck and for a number of years they were peaceful, but in 1663 they burned and looted the town. There were 12 men, 2 children, and 4 women killed, and 6 women and 7 children taken prisoner. Jurian and his family escaped harm at the time, but later in 1667 or 1668 Jurian was killed by Indians who were at war with the Esopus Indians while he was guiding a troop of British soldiers. Jurian married Marretje Hansen about 1654. Marretje was born in about 1636 in Holland. Her father was Hans Hansen or Jansen (Hans Jansen Van Noordstrandt). Hans was born about 1610 on Norstrand Island, Netherlands, and migrated to New Amsterdam in 1638. He worked as an interpreter and often traveled between Holland and the new settlement. He married Rymerig Volkert, and they had 4 children-Marretje, Hans, Simon, and Elsa. His wife died in 1645, and Hans placed Marritje who was just 9 and her sister Elsa in the home of a farmer Phillip Garretsen where they learned the art of homemaking. Hans died in 1690 in Flatlands, Brooklyn. After Jurian's death Marritje remarried to Jacob Jansen. Marritje died after 1670 in Ulster, Kingston County, New York.

In 1696 Jurian Westfall's son and Joseph Westfall's great grandfather Nicholas Westfall and 18 others including his brothers Johannes, Symen, and his widowed sister Rymerick Quick bought land from the Minsi Indians along the Delaware River near the New York/New Jersey line. The land lies principally in Deerpark Township, Orange County, New York. The peaceful Minsi Indians were one of the three tribes of the Lenni Lenape people. About 1699 Johannes and his family moved to what was called the Minisink settlement. They were among the first white people to live in the area. Johannes oldest son Jurian and his friend Jacob Kuykendall hunted and trapped with the Minsi Indians as youths, and later traded with them. Jurian married Jacob's sister Styntje Kuykendall and Jacob married Jurian's sister Sara westfall. They raised their families and farmed there in the Minisink Valley along the Delaware River at peace with the Indians for many years. Jurian had the first apple orchard in the area, and Jacob established the first trading post.

After his death his widow Arientje remarried to John Leyde and moved away leaving her son Abraham with his Uncle Jurian and family. Petrus and Arientje (Rosencrans) Westfall's son Abraham Westfall was born at Machackemeck, Deer Park Township, Orange County, N.Y. Nov. 18, 1755, died 1829 in Carroll County, Ohio. He was a Capt. in the Revolutionary War. He fought under Washington and Lafayette at the battles of Grand Creek, Bunker Hill (where he was wounded), Stony Point, Brandywine, Trenton and Bloody Run. He married Blandina Van Etten in Deer Park Township, Orange County, New York, daughter of Anthony Van Etten and Annatje Decker. She was born September 4, 1763 in Deer Park Township, Orange County, New York. Abraham and his wife moved to Washington County, Pa. in May 1797.

Joseph married Elizabeth, whose last name I don't know. She was born in 1786 and died after 1840. She was probably from western PA. In about 1828, they moved to Vigo County, Indiana where son John wed Margaret Lambert on December 6, 1829. Joseph and his wife show in the 1830 and 1840 census but not after that. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. Joseph was born to Abraham Westfall and Blandina Van Etten. He was christened at the Machackemech Dutch Church in present Port Jervis, New York. He wed, name unknown, in Washington County, Pennsylvania in about 1804. There they had children: (1) Betsy Westfall born in 1805; (2) John Westfall born in 1807; (3) James Westfall born in 1810, died 1848; (4) Levi Westfall born in 1812. In about 1813, they moved to Carroll County Ohio and had: (5) Hiram A. Westfall born on 1 Oct 1813; (6) Nelson Westfall born in 1817, died 1868; and (7) Elizabeth Westfall Chadwick born on 14 Jul 1821, died 1893. In about 1828, they moved to Vigo County, Indiana.

(5a) Joseph and Elizabeth Westfall's son Hiram Abiff Westfall was born 10/1/1813, and died 3/19/1903. Hiram Westfall married Ruby Havens born 2/25/1821 in Terre Haute, IN, and died 7/30/1872. Hiram moved to Vigo County, Indiana at age 4. He Farmed until 1841 then headed to CA, but didn't get far when his daughter Amanda was born in a covered wagon and indians became ferocious. The family settled in Hannibal, near St. Louis, MO. Hiram worked in pork packing, saw mill and farmed fruit. Hiram and Ruby had 10 children. One of their children was a daughter Amanda Noel Westfall.
Note: An 1870 census shows a Hiram A. Westfall born 1814 in Ohio living in Mason Township, Marion County, a part of the city of Hannibal MO. The 1870 census shows Hiram Westfall's wife was Ruby Westfall born in 1821 in Indiana. Their children living with them at that time in the census were E. Westfall born 1849 in MO, F. Westfall born 1853 in MO, Mac Westfall born 1856 in MO, and J. Westfall born 1860 in MO.

October 14, 1881, Wednesday - ST. LOUIS, Oct. 13.--A special dispatch from Hannibal, Mo., says: "While the famlly of Hiram Westfall were seated at breakfast yesterday morning they were suddenly attacked with sickness and commenced vomiting. The persons at the table were Mr. Westfall, his wife, a young lady, and a hired man. Their symptoms became more violent and death seemed certain, when Mr. Westfall whose attack seemed the lightest, mounted his horse and summoned physicians, who immediately suspected the cause to be the eating of poisonous food. Mrs. Westfall died last night, and the hired man is not expected to live. A dish of oatmeal had been prepared by a colored servant, with whom there had previously been trouble, ie thought to have been poisoned with arsenic. The servant left the house, but has since been arrested. She tells contradictory stories and the evidence points to her guilt. The Westfalls are highly respected people.

(1aa) Hiram and Ruby (Havens) Westfall's daughter Amanda Noel Westfall was born 1/31/1842 in a covered wagon. She died 12/19/1916. Amanda married Henry Pinkham Jacques 12/10/1862 in Hannibal, MO. Henry was born in Tewksbury, MA on 3/29/1839 and died in Ferguson, MO on 5/1/1923. Henry had a distinguished railroad career. Henry changed the spelling of his last name upon marriage to Jaques. They had 3 children-Olive Amanda Jaques born 10/1/1884, Henry Jaques born 1/30/1870, and Ruby Permelia Jaques born 3/1/1868 (Ruby's middle name might have been Pinkham). Olive Jaques married Frank Abner Thompson of St Louis. Henry Westfall Jaques married Bessie Florance Hibler. Ruby Permelia Jaques married Samuel Frazier Pryor.

Henry Westfall Jacques
Henry Westfall Jacques was born January 30, 1870, in Hannibal, Missouri, where he resided until his parents removed to Kansas City in 1881. He attended the Kansas City public and high schools, and completed his education at Kansas University. After his school days he entered the employ of the Memphis Route, where he remained for two years. He then went with the South Missouri Land and Lumber Company as book-keeper, and then for a while with the Sunny South Lumber Company.
In 1891 he accepted a position as traveling salesman for the Kansas Cit Car and Foundry Company, afterwards acquired by the Armour interests, and remained with it for three years. In 1893 he organized the Mercantile Lumber & Supply Company, and was elected president. Under his direction the business has grown from the original capitalization of $5,000 to $50,000, and a railroad supply house is also operated by it now. Mr. Jacques married Miss Bessie Hibler in 1897, and has one child, Henry P., fourth of that name in the family, which traces back to 1630. Mr. Jacques belongs to the Commercial Club and the Kansas City Club.
(1aaa) Henry and Amanda (Westfall) Jaques's daughter Ruby Permelia Jaques was born 3/1/1868. Ruby Jaques married Samuel Frazier Pryor on 6/6/1894 in Kansas City. He was born 4/21/1865 and died 11/18/1934. They moved to Greenwich.CT in 1914 and he became President of Remington Arms until 1933 when DuPont Company bought Remington. Samuel Frazier Pryor was also a founder of Pan Am Air, and he was very close friends of Charles Lindbergh, Gene Tunney (the boxer) and several US Presidents. He was also Republican Presidential Candidate Wendell Wilkie's campaign manager.
Samuel Frazier Pryor and Ruby Permelia (Jaques) Pryor had 4 children-Frederick Pryor born 8/3/1900, died 10/9/1938, Ruby Permelia Pryor born 9/6/1906, died 4/12/1994, Jacques Frazier Pryor born 9/6/1896, died 11/27/1953, and Samuel Frazier Pryor born 3/1/1898, died 9/18/1985.

Walter "Glenn" Mack's obituary - Walter "Glenn" Mack - July 29, 1950 to November 19, 2015 - "I'll keep working as long as my two hands are fit to use," Merle Haggard declared. No doubt in saying so, he was reflecting on the lives of working men like Walter "Glenn" Mack, who passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at age 65. A classic Texas oil and cattle man, Glenn died from complications stemming from congestive heart failure. Born on July 29, 1950, Glenn was one of four children, including his predeceased brother, Kenneth Wayne Mack, along with his sister, Linda Mack Boatman (and husband Ray) and his brother, James Alton Mack (and wife Gladys), who now survive him. The youngest child, Glenn preferred to be outdoors where it was calm and quiet, especially when it came to working with cattle in the family's pasture. There, he learned "the faith and love for growing things," as Randy Travis once characterized this particular affinity for land and nature. After graduation from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Glenn naturally went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University. In addition, Glenn later worked as a roustabout and "tool pusher," eventually owning GM Services. Between his experience in the oil field and his cattle operation, Glenn was an exceptionally hard worker who wore himself out in providing for his family. "If I only had some help," he would say, "I could get more done." But his family knew the truth: he did more than enough for them. Still, he wasn't all gritty, hardheaded stubbornness. Thankfully, Glenn took time to enjoy the life he had built as he would break from work for a while and relax by taking his children fishing or cooking out at home. Happily married to Gerre Pryor Mack (who predeceased him in 2005) for many years, Glenn loved spending time with his family, including his two sons: Lee Carson Mack (and wife Judy) and Clayton Pryor Mack (and wife Andrea). Later, Glenn became a loving grandfather to Evan, Erin, Ethan, Foster and Peyton Mack, as well as a beloved uncle to David, Lance and Kimberly Mack and Daryl Lenz, along with other great nieces and nephews. Also dear to Glenn was his adopted son in Christ, Calvin Jackson. As a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Bryan, Glenn reveled in the company of his family, church family and friends, who now honor his generous spirit and servant's heart, learned through the example of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Oahu, Leokane Pryor lived an idyllic childhood in the mystical Manoa Valley. His parents had come from Texas, but his uncle, Sam Pryor, led the family to the islands after his retirement from Pan American Airlines. He settled in Kipahulu, a remote and jungly outpost on Maui's isolated eastern coast, about 10 miles from Hana. It was Sam, in fact, who first brought his friend, Charles Lindbergh, to the area. Lindbergh found the Hana region to be a welcome respite from the mostly unwelcome fame he suffered after piloting the first transatlantic plane flight. And his simple, unadorned grave in Kipahulu is now a notable tourist attraction.
In 1958, the ever-enthusiastic Sam convinced Leokane's parents to move to Hawaii. They came intending to stay for a year, and then put down permanent roots. Originally named Jacques Frazier Pryor III, Leokane learned to play the ukulele as a child and sang Hawaiian music well into his teen years, but never considered performing professionally. He visited his uncle in the Hana area often, and came to develop a deep appreciation for the area's old Hawaii vibe. Kipahulu is so magnificent and powerful and it really got under my skin, he said.
Note: Leokane Pryor is also a concierge at Hotel Hana-Maui in Hawaii. Leokane's uncle Samuel Pryor bought a large estate in Hawaii in Kipahulu in the late 1940s, after World War II.

Lowell Jackson Thomas (April 6, 1892-August 29, 1981) was an American writer, broadcaster, and traveller best known as the man who made Lawrence of Arabia famous. So varied were Thomas's activities that when it came time for the Library of Congress to catalog his memoirs they were forced to put them in "CT" in their classification -- biographies of subjects who don't fit into any other category.
He was born in Woodington, Ohio, in Darke County, the son of Harry and Harriet (Wagner) Thomas. His father was a doctor and his mother a school teacher. In 1900, the family moved to the mining town of Victor, Colorado. There he worked as a gold miner, a cook, and a reporter on the newspaper. In 1911, he graduated from Valparaiso University with bachelor's degrees in education and science. The next year he received both a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Denver and began work for the Chicago Journal, writing for it until 1914. While in Chicago, he was a professor at the Chicago-Kent College of Law, teaching oratory. He then went to New Jersey, where he studied for a master's at Princeton University (he received the degree in 1916) and again taught oratory at the university. A relentless self-promoter, he persuaded railroads to give him free passage in exchange for articles extolling rail travel. When he visited Alaska, he hit upon the novel idea of the travelogue, movies about faraway places. When the United States entered World War I, he was part of an official party sent by President Wilson, former president of Princeton, to "compile a history of the conflict."
During the 1920s, he was a magazine editor. In 1930, he became a broadcaster with the CBS radio network. After two years, he switched to the NBC radio network but returned to CBS in 1947. He hosted the first-ever television-news broadcast in 1930 and the first regularly scheduled television news broadcast, beginning on February 21, 1940, on NBC. But television news was a short-lived venture for him, and he favored radio. Indeed, it was over radio that he presented and commented upon the news for four decades until his retirement in 1976, the longest radio career of anyone in his day (a record later surpassed by Paul Harvey). "No other journalist or world figure, with the possible exception of Winston Churchill, has remained in the public spotlight for so long," wrote Norman R. Bowen in Lowell Thomas: The Stranger Everyone Knows (1968). His signature sign-on was "Good evening, everybody" and his sign-off "So long, until tomorrow," phrases he would use in titling his two volumes of memoirs.
Thomas never lost his fascination with the movies. He narrated Twentieth Century Fox's Movietone newsreels until 1952. That year he went into business with Mike Todd and Louis B. Mayer to exploit Cinerama, a movie format that used three projectors and an enormous curved screen. He was a successful businessman. He and his long-time business manager/partner Frank Smith brought a small UHF and Radio broadcasting company based in Albany New York and turned into Capital Cities Communications, which in 1986 took over the American Broadcasting Company, and developed the Quaker Hill community in Dutchess County, New York, near Pawling, where Thomas resided when not on the road. Among his neighbors there was Thomas E. Dewey, one of a huge circle of friends that included everyone from the Dalai Lama to Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1976, President Gerald Ford awarded Thomas the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1989.
His wife of 58 years, Fran Ryan, who often travelled with him, died in February 1975. He was married a second time in 1977 to Marianna Munn. True to form, he embarked with her on a 50,000-mile honeymoon trip that took him to many of his favourite old destinations. Thomas died at his home at Pawling at the age of eighty-nine and was buried in Christ Church Cemetery.

TAP PRYOR
Tap Pryor was born in 1931 and graduated from Cornell University in 1954 when he joined the US Marine Corps, serving in Parris Island, Quantico, Pensacola, and MCAS Kaneohe, Hawaii. He was a Naval Aviator, carrier qualified in fixed wing and helicopters, He was discharged as Captain in 1957 and attended graduate school in marine biology at the University of Hawaii until 1960 when he founded the Ocean Institute, Sea Life Park and the Makai Undersea Test Range (now Makai Ocean Engineering). In 1965 he was appointed Senator, Hawaii State Senate. In 1966 (at age 35) he was named by President Johnson as one of eleven Commissioners to the President's Commission of Marine Science, Marine Engineering and Marine Conservation. Ultimately called the"Stratton Commission", this group was responsible for the creation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Their report Our Nation and the Sea was published in January 1969.
With Gosta Fahlman, Pryor developed Aegir, an undersea habitat, which accomodated 6 persons and was sucessfully tested at 600' depth for two weeks at ambient pressure off Makapuu Pt in 1968. With Will Foreman, Pryor developed Kumukahi, the first plexiglass submersible also tested at the Makai Range in 1968/69. During that time the Oceanic Institute acquired Star II. Pryor and Foreman invented an inexpensive, diver-operated pontoon-platform for launching and recovering submersibles beneath the surface so that they could operate in all weather with only a vessel-of-opportunity towing the submersible and its launcher to and from the dive sites. Thanks to that, Star II subsequently logged more undersea work time than any submersible anywhere.
In 1970, Pryor was named Salesman of the Year for the State of Hawaii in recognition of his promotion of Hawaii and a place for marine science and engineering development. Following his work on the Stratton Commission, he developed and operated the Systemculture Seafood Plantation at Kahuku on Oahu, principally the production of table oysters, using his own patented on-land technique for culturing phytoplankton in ponds to feed the oysters on stacked trays in raceways.
In 1981, his product, the Hawaiian oyster, was named by the Cologne Food Fair as the Outstanding New Product introduced to Europe that year. The seafood plantation was lost to cyclone Eva in 1982. The next year, Pryor joined the Aquanautics Corporation - then a NYSE-listed company -- as VP Research and in 1985 VP Marketing. He led the conversion of Aquanautics from a diving equipment manufacturer to a high-tech specialist in extracting oxygen from fluids.
In 1986, Pryor resigned from Aquanautics for personal reasons and moved permanently to the Cook Islands in late-1989, joining the Office of the Prime Minister as Director, Special Projects Division, and later as Deputy Chief of Staff. In 1992, the Cook Islands Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Norwegian Government and the Fridjhof Nansen Institute to develop the islands' manganese nodule deposits. In 1999, Pryor left government to join Manihiki Black Pearls Ltd as VP, production & marketing.. In 2002 moved on to own and operates a noni plantation on Rarotonga. that he has expanded into a lettuce and herb hydroponics business. In November, 2003, he introduced a cut salad mix of lettuces and herbs to the local marketsm with the brand name of Papa Tap's. He followed that in early 2004 with a coleslaw. He is currently market testing other healthy, convenience foods. His hydroponics opertion now utlilzes a method new to the Cook Islands called "raft culture" whereby the plants are grown in styrofoam floats in tanks of fertilized water. In cooperation with the Ministry of Marine Resources, prawns are scheduled to be added for double and symbiotic use of the same facilities, a technique called "aquaponics".

Tap Pryor and his wife Karen Pryor raised the money to build Sea Life Park, a dolphin research facility cum tourist attraction in Hawaii. In 1934, Joseph V. Reed purchased the other owners shares in the Hobe Sound Company and began a new period of Island development. The entire property remained under Reed family ownership until 1996. In 1944, with 75 residents on the Island, Joseph V. Reed and Permelia P. Reed founded the Jupiter Island Resident's Committee and the Island Club and its Board of Directors. In the next year, 1945, Joseph Reed donated the land for the police station and the firehouse. Proximity to the wooden cottages and main Clubhouse was of paramount importance. The Reeds also gave the land that is now the Hobe Sound Beach to Martin County for use as a public beach.

Verner Z. Reed Dies-Federal Mediator
Capitalist and Author a Victim of Pneumonia at 55 at Coronado, Cal.
San Diego, Cal., April 21 - Verner Z. Reed, United States Federal Mediator died late last night at Coronado. Mr. Reed went to Coronado last January for his health. After a short stay there he was apparently much improved and recently had begun planning for his return to Denver, Col., where he made his home. Last Friday he was stricken with pneumonia.
Verner Zevola Reed, author and capitalist was born in Richland County, Ohio Oct. 13, 1863, and for two terms attended the Eastern Iowa Normal School. He was one of the origional of the Special Mediation Commission appointed by President Wilson soon after the United States went to war to undertake adjustment of industrial labor trouble. He is credited with having played a large part in quieting unrest which threatened war preparations. The commission late in 1917, made a trip of many weeks through the West investigating deportations and dissatisfaction in the Arizona copper district, labor troubles on the Pacific Coast, in Colorado, and in Minnesota and St. Paul, Minn., and differences between the Chicago packers and their employees. Mr. Reed took a prominent part in the investigation and settlement of trouble in the Lousiana oil fields.
For many years Mr. Reed had been engaged in mining, banking, petroleum manufacturing, ranching, land reclamation and irrigation enterprises in Colorado, Wyoming, and other states. He lived for nearly fifteen years abroad. Mr. Reed had made extensive studies of American Indian myths and folk lore, especially among the Utes and some of the Pueblo tribes, and was among the first to make an automobile tour to the Sahara Desert. Mr. Reed was widely known as a lecturer on peace, international politics, and kindred subjects. He was author of "Lo-To-Kah", "Tales Of The Sunland", "Adobeland Stories", "The Soul Of Paris", and had also contributed essays, editorials, and stories to magazines and newspapers. He was a member of the Explorers and Rocky Mountain Clubs of New York, Athletic Country, Denver Clubs of Denver, and the Golf and El Paso Clubs of Colorado Springs.----The New York Times-Published April 22, 1919

Verner Zevola Reed III, 82, of Falmouth, passed away Feb. 28, 2006 at his home. He was born in Denver, Colorado in 1923, the son of Verner Zevola Reed, Jr. and Gladys Quentell Reed. Mr. Reed attended Aiken Preparatory School in S.C., where he was a skilled horseman. He graduated from Milton Academy in 1941 and attended Harvard University before becoming a member of the Army Air Corps. During World War II he was stationed in China, Burma, and India. He had joined the Air Corps as a private, served in the CBI as an aircraft engineering officer, and was discharged in 1946 as First Lieutenant. Returning home from the war, Mr. Reed lived in Stowe, Vermont, where he became a furniture maker. When he had difficulty finding a good photographer to market his products, he picked up a camera and taught himself the art. This led him to Boston to pursue photography professionally. During the 1950s he worked on a freelance basis for Life magazine, photographing over 125 assignments in New England. His work was also published in Fortune, Paris Match, Time, and Vermont Life. In 1956, Mr. Reed returned to Vermont. He continued to do freelance assignments for magazines and began a new career as a sculptor. While in Stowe, Mr. Reed purchased and ran The Three Green Doors restaurant.
In 1973, Mr. Reed and his wife, Deborah, moved to Pemaquid Harbor where they restored and ran a salt-water farm. Mr. Reed continued his interest in photography and sculpture I while raising sheep. In 1980, the family moved to Falmouth, and Mr. Reed's third artistic pursuit began in the field of jewelry and silversmithing. He exhibited his work at Fibula on Exchange Street and quickly became recognized as one of the foremost jewelers in Portland. Mr. Reed has received increasing recognition in recent years for his accomplishments in the field of photography. His work has been the focus of several one-man exhibitions in New England, most notably A Changing World: New England in the Photographs of Verner Reed, 1950-1972, organized by Historic New England. The accompanying catalogue, reviews, and television appearances have made his name well known to curators up and down the east coast.
In 2005 the Maine State Senate honored him for his contribution to the arts in New England. Mr. Reed's work is owned by museums including the University of New England Art Gallery, the Portland Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. Historic New England possesses his photographic archive. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; a brother, Gordon Peter of Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Verner Zevola IV, of Greenfield Center, N.Y.; three daughters: Jennifer, of Natick, Mass.; Victoria, of Jamaica Plain, Mass.; and Mary, of Cambridge, Mass.; three granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.

The engagement of Aimee Porter Harrison to Austin Reed, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Pryor Reed of Centreville, Md., and Hobe Sound, Fla., has been announced by the prospective bride's parents, Sarah Schutt Harrison and Herbert Preston Harrison, both of Richmond. A June wedding is planned. Miss Harrison graduated from St. Catherine's School, the Tante Marie School of Cookery in London and Mount Vernon College. She was presented at the Holly Ball in Wilmington, Del.
Her father is a vice president of the Morton G. Thalhimer real-estate concern in Richmond Her mother is a fine-arts consultant in Richmond. Miss Harrison is a granddaughter of C. Porter Schutt of Greenville, Del., and the late Phyllis duPont Schutt, and she is a descendant of Eleuthere Irenee du Pont, the founder of the Du Pont Company. Mr. Reed, the assistant project manager of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in Washington, graduated from St. Andrew's School and attended Washington College. His mother, Nancy Jane Reed, breeds Welsh ponies at Land's End Farm in Centreville. His father, who is retired, was a banker with White, Weld & Company in New York. The prospective bridegroom is a grandson of Mrs. Herbert T. Austin of Easton, Md., and the late Mr. Austin, and Mrs. Joseph Verner Reed of Hobe Sound and the late Mr. Reed, an investor who founded the Jupiter Island Club in Hobe Sound and helped found the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Conn.

Nathaniel P. Reed - Nathaniel Reed currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Everglades Foundation. Samuel P. Reed married Annette Engelhard on 12 March 1960, in Bernardsville, New Jersey. She was born December 24, 1939. She was born Anne France Mannheimer and nicknamed Annette. She is the only child of German banker Fritz Mannheimer (1890-1939), who died before her birth, and his wife, Marie Annette Reiss (later known as Jane Engelhard, 1917-2004). Her German-born maternal grandfather, Hugo Reiss, was the Brazilian consul in Shanghai, China. Joseph Verner Reed was born in New York City and is a graduate of Yale University, Class of 1961. Following his university studies, he joined the World Bank as Private Secretary to the President. From 1963-1981, he was Vice President and Assistant to the Chairman of the Chase Manhattan Bank, Mr. David Rockefeller.
