Helen B. (Foster) Pritchard's obituary - Mrs. Helen B. Pritchard, died 9 October 1978: Mrs. Helen B. Pritchard, 53, of 311 E. Pearl St, Jerseyville was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community Hospital at 9 am 8 October after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was born in Jersey County 10 July 1925, a daughter of Jud and Mena (Freand) Foster. She had been a bookkeeper at C & W Equipment Co. Mrs. Pritchard was a member of the First Baptist church, Ruby Rebekah Lodge and the Madrigal Singers.

Her survivors are her husband, Hugh Pritchard whom she married 18 February 1956; two daughters, Joyce and Carol Pritchard, both college students; and one brother, Truman Foster of Jerseyville. Her parents, one brother and a sister preceded her in death. Visitation after 4 pm 10 October at Gubser Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the First Baptist church at noon Wednesday where visitation will continue until time of services at 2 pm. The Rev. Orrin Anderson of the Alton First Baptist church will officiate and burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. The family has designated the Adult Choir of the First Baptist church as a memorial.

Truman A. Foster's obituary - Truman A. Foster, 92, died at 4:46 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home. Born May 8, 1908, in Jersey County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jud and Mena (Freand) Foster. A U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran, he owned and operated Foster Auto Sales and Repair for 54 years, retiring in 1984, and was a Studebaker and Nash car dealer from 1939 to 1959 in Jerseyville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, I.O.O.F. No. 53 and American Legion Post No. 492, all in Jerseyville and was a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster in 1948, the American Red Cross director from 1942 to 1960 and World War II commander of civilian defense. He married the former Blanche Dierking June 27, 1931, in Alton. She died July 3, 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Foster Dixon of Atlanta, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Dixon and Craig Andrew Dixon, both of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry L. Foster, and two sisters, Trulbia White and Helen Pritchard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.The Rev. Ed Haun will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jerseyville.

She was the daughter of Frederic "Fred" Wieneke (1850-1930) and Johannah C. "Anna" Quitt (1859-1927). "Lena" married 1st John Freand, a dredge boat engineer, about 1908. They were the parents of 3 children, but later divorced. Children from her first marriage to John M. Freand were-Walter Charles Freand (1909-1971), Matilda Marie "Tillie" Freand Willenburg, and Otto Fred "Bud" Freand (1912-1998). Lena's second husband was August Nolte (1873-1959). They married before 1920. They had no children. Lena died the day before her 52nd birthday. She was survived by her second husband, August, who passed away in 1959. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 09 Nov 1938 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels. Her burial was at Saint Matthew's Cemetery, Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Anna Quitt Wieneke and was born in Rosedale township, Jersey county. She is survived by her husband, August Nolte, one daughter, Matilda Wellenburg of Golden Eagle; two sons, Walter Freand of Golden Eagle, and Otto Freand of Brussels; two brothers, Charles Wieneke of Jersey county and Frederick Wieneke of Roxana, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Whirl and Mrs. Emma Fraley of Fieldon, and Mrs. Matilda Fraley of East Alton. Funeral services will be held at St. Mathew's Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Eugene Smith, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mathew's cemetery.

Caroline Agnes (Freand) "Lena" Wieneke Nolte's 2nd husband August Frederick Nolte was born Jan. 31, 1873 in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois, and died May 27, 1959 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, Illinois. He was the son of Karl F. "Charles" Nolte (1836-1910) and Johannah "Hannah" Brinkmann (1849-1915). August was born near Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois. He was a farmer and life-long resident of the area. August married Anna Catherine Louise (Nolte) Nolle Pell (1880-1928), Annie Nolle on 03 Nov 1898 in Calhoun County, Illinois. They were divorced before 1910. Children from first marriage: None. August then married Caroline Agnes "Lena" Wieneke before 1920. She was the mother of 3 children--Walter, Tillie and Bud--from her first marriage to John Freand. Lena died in 1938. Due to declining health in his later years, August was a patient at a nursing home for some time before he was taken to Jersey Community Hospital. At the time of his death there, August was 86 years, 3 months and 27 days old. He was survived by 1 brother, Henry Nolte; and 1 sister, Mollie Gose. Both of August's siblings resided in Golden Eagle. Visitation was held after 7 p.m. on 28 May 1959 at Joacoby Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. on the afternoon of 30 May 1959 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The Freands were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton. After Walter passed away in 1971, Oleta moved to a house in Carrollton. She suffered a severe stroke in 1991 and then lived at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home for several years. At the time of her death at the nursing home, Oleta was 82 years, 5 months and 20 days old. She was survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Dale Freand of Warrenton, Missouri, (Living) Freand of Carrollton, Illinois, and Lonnie Freand of White Hall, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, George and Louie Meseke, both of St. Louis County, Missouri; and 1 sister, Freda Robeen of Hardin, Illinois. In addition to her husband, Oleta was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Bud Meseke who was killed in action during World War II, Henry Meseke and Oscar Meseke; and 1 sister, Bertha Arnold. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on 29 Jun 1997 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton. Oleta was buried next to her husband, Walter. (1aa) Walter Charles Freand and Oleta Dorothy (Meseke) Freand's son Dale Erwin Freand's obituary - Dale Erwin Freand was born Nov. 9, 1936 in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois, and died Oct. 16, 1997 in Lake Saint Louis, St. Charles County, Missouri. He was the oldest son of Walter Freand and Oleta Meseke, Dale married Bernice Dillon on 20 Feb 1965 in St. Charles, Missouri. She had 1 daughter from a previous marriage. Dale was a cement truck driver, and Bernice worked as an electrician at McDonnell Douglas Corporation (later taken over by Boeing) in St. Charles County. Dale battled cancer and heart disease for several years. At the time of his death, he was 60 years, 11 months and 7 days old. Dale was buried on 18 Oct 1997 and was survived by his wife, 2 younger brothers and a step-daughter. Also surviving were several aunts and uncles, as well as 8 cousins.

(2aa) Walter Charles Freand and Oleta Dorothy (Meseke) Freand's son Lonnie Lamont Freand's obituary - Lonnie Lamont Freand was born Nov. 4, 1949 in Spankey, Jersey County, Illinois, and died Aug. 3, 1998 in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. He was the youngest son of Walter Freand and Oleta Meseke, Lonnie married Linda J. Bequeaith on 10 Apr 1971 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois. They were the parents of 2 children. Lonnie was a MOPAR enthusiast. He enjoyed collecting and working on old cars with his son. A skilled musician who loved to play guitar and sing, Lonnie shared his musical talents with the residents at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton during volunteer visits several times a month. Lonnie worked at Tenneco, a plastic manufacturer, for more than 27 years. He was involved in the Plant Emergency Organization and the Fire Brigade. Lonnie suffered a heart attack at work and was rushed to Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois where he died at the age of 48 years, 8 months and 30 days. He was survived by his wife, 2 children and 1 brother. Also surviving were several aunts and uncles, as well as 8 cousins.

Lonnie Lamont Freand's wife Linda Joyce (Bequeaith) Freand DaValbiss's obituary - Linda Joyce Freand DaValbiss, 66, of White Hall, died Sept. 18, 2018 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born Jan. 8, 1952 in White Hall, the daughter of the late Junior and Doris Slack Bequeaith. She married Lonnie L. Freand on April 10, 1971 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1998. She later married Ronald DaValbiss and he preceded her in death, Jan. 12, 2016. Surviving are a son, Tim (Lynnette) Freand of White Hall; a daughter, Krista Jones of O'Fallon; four grandchildren, Dennis Freand, Carmen Inman, Troy Brincks, and Austin Plymell; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Flagg; and a sister, Kathy Robinson of Meredosia. She was preceded in death by a great grandson, Keegan Inman. Linda was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Carrollton. She worked as a Certified Nurses Aid at the White Hall Hospital, Passavant Hospital, and Scott County Nursing Center. In her more recent years she enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center in Carrollton, and at the White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center helping with activities and crafts. She was a very creative person and loved shopping. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall, with burial at the White Hall Cemetery. A retired farmer, he was a member of St Matthews Lutheran Church of Brussels and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown. Born December 28, 1912 in Rosedale, he was a son of the late John and Caroline Wieneke Freand. He married the former Velma M. Zimmerman on Aug. 3, 1937 in St. Louis. She died May 12, 1991.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Mary Freand of Jerseyville; three daughters and two son-in-laws, Gloria and William Ohlendorf of Jerseyville, Sonja and Alan Helm of Holts Summit, MO, and Troby Freand of Chesterfield; two grandsons Mark Ohlendorf of Brussels and Clay and his wife Rita Ohlendorf of Golden Eagle; two great grandchildren Ashley and Mitchell Ohlendorf; and a great great grandson John Ohlendorf. A brother Walter Freand and a sister Matilda preceded him in death. Visitation and services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church. He was the son of John Freand and Caroline Wieneke, Bud married Velma M. "Toots" Zimmerman on 03 Aug 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 4 children. Bud was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels and former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown. Bud suffered from declining health for some time during his later years. He eventually had to have a leg amputated and became a patient at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. Bud died at the nursing home at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 28 days. He was survived by 1 son, Troy, and daughter-in-law; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law; 2 grandsons; 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-grandson. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Toots; 1 brother, Walter Freand; and 1 sister, Tillie. Visitation and funeral services were private. Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Brussels was in charge of arrangements. Bud was buried next to his wife, Toots, who passed away in 1991. The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown.

She was the daughter of Walter Zimmerman and Bertha Willenburg, "Toots" was baptized 12 Oct 1919 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois. Toots married Otto "Bud" Freand on 03 Aug 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 4 children. Toots was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown. She served as the treasurer for the Search Light Circle, also in Batchtown. At the time of her death at St. Anthony's Hospital, Toots was 72 years, 8 months and 29 days old. She was survived by her husband, Bud; 3 daughters; 1 son, Troy; 2 grandsons; 1 step-great-grandchild; and 2 brothers, Leo Zimmerman of St. Louis, Missouri, and Paul Zimmerman of Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to her parents, Toots was preceded in death by 1 brother, Leonard. No visitation was held and private funeral services were conducted at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Brussels. The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to a charity of one's choice. Toots' husband, Bud, passed away in 1998 and was buried next to her.

(1aa) Otto Fred "Bud" Freand's and Velma Marie "Toots" (Zimmerman) Freand's son Troy Lyle Freand's obituary - Troy Lyle Freand, 63, died at 5:20 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his residence from complications from battling lung cancer. He had fought a good fight, and had tried very hard to beat the cancer, but the Lord decided he had done his best, and it was now time to rest. He was born on the family farm in Brussels on March 23, 1948, the only son of four children born to the late Otto "Bud" and Velma "Toots" (Zimmerman) Devine. He grew up in Brussels, and farming became a part of his life early on. He graduated from Brussels Community High School in 1967, where he was played the center position on the basketball team. After high school, he enrolled in a diesel engineering school in Nashville, Tn. A U.S. Army veteran, he volunteered to serve in Vietman during the war, and after his honorable discharge he returned to Calhoun County, and began farming once again alonside his father in the Brussels area. Troy Lyle Freand's wife Mary Margaret (Devine) Freand's obituary - JERSEYVILLE — Mary Margaret Freand, 66, was called home to our Lord at 6:56 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, after a courageous fight with ALS for the past year. Her brother, Gary, and his wife, Kimberly, and their two sons, were at her bedside at the time of her passing. Mary was born on Oct. 9, 1949, in Alton, and was the second child and daughter born to Hubert and Margaret (Held) Devine. She was raised in Brussels and worked alongside her parents, who operated the local "Devine Store," selling groceries to the families in the area. She graduated from Brussels Community High School in 1967, and the went on to graduate from the Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique in 1968 as a Registered Medical Technologist. Mary shared her knowledge and her compassionate skills as a Med Tech at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton for 44 years, prior to her retirement in October 2012. It was more than just a job to Mary, as she became friends with many co-workers and patients through the years, as evidenced by the many visitors she had come through during her final illness. On April 8, 1972, she married the love of her life and fellow "Raider" classmate, Troy L. Freand, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brussels, and shared 39 wonderful, blissful years together before his death on May 7, 2011. Most of their married life was spent in Brussels, until choosing to move to Jerseyville in 1992. She was currently a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and was a member of the local Dominoes Club. She enjoyed traveling with her friends, as well as her brother and his family. Due to her illness, they had to cancel a trip that was planned to tour Iceland. A fun loving spirited woman, she was adored and loved by anyone who came into contact with her. She faced her final illness with courage and laughter and continued to be a constant joy to be around. Mary is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kimberly Devine of Fieldon, along with their two sons and special nephews, Mitchell Devine of Fieldon and Travis Devine and his wife, Ashley of Jerseyville, and their two sons, Cleighton and Kaleb. They brought her many hours of joy and laughter and were told many times by Mary that they were the "light of her life." She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Rick Snyders of Batchtown; a brother-in-law, John Sherman of Alton; a special cousin, Marilyn Waters of the state of Oregon; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and some very special friends, Carolyn Hawkins, Janis Stephenson, Susie Mensman and Alice Harris. She also leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Sonja, Gloria and Troby. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, along with her oldest sister, Janice Sherman. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW, the Wood River Moose and the Otterville Southern Baptist Church, but above all she was a homemaker, as family always came first. She married Leslie Elvin Nickels on September 21, 1939 in St. Charles, MO. Together they raised six children: Gerald (Carla) Nickels of Bourbon, MO. and Anita Nickels of Jerseyville, IL. She was preceded in death by her son: Leslie David (Mary Jane-living) Nickels and daughters: Barbara Ontis, Janet Sue (Carl) Freand and Martha (Ed) Hayes. She loved having and spending time with her eleven grandchildren, Carla Norris, Karen Freand, Crystal (Jerry) King, Robert (Linda) Ontis, Patrick (Cathy) Nickels, Dawn (Mark) Ansell, Jeffery (Susan) Freand, Melissa Ontis, Leslie Freand, and Amanda (Paul) Koch; her eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barkley Louis Vancil, on Dec. 4, 2000; a grandson, Thomas Barkley Vancil, on Dec. 28, 1999; and a brother, Gerald Vancil. Pruitt on April 29, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri, and together they raised five children and shared 35 years together before his death on Dec. 19, 1977. Surviving are a son, David Pruitt of Kane; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Junior Freand of Jerseyville, Paula and Eddie Edwards of Higbee, Missouri, and Patty and Dan Cummings of Jerseyville; 12 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice Jo and Ronald Legate of Alton; and a sister-in-law, Stella Vancil of Jerseyville. Visitation and services were held at Gubser funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev Rick Francis officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. She was born May 7, 1923, in Jersey County, just west of Kane, to Alonzo Vincent and Clara Margaret (Freand) Keown. She married George Washington Koenig on March 31, 1951, at the Holy Ghost Rectory. He survives. A 1941 graduate of Jersey Township High School, she was a beautician, operating Gen's Beauty Salon out of her home on Northmoor Drive. She retired in 1995 after serving her customers for 26 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano and painting. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and Tri-County Antique Club and was a Daughter of the American Revolution.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 52 years, are a son and daughter-in-law, George William and Dottie Koenig of Jerseyville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Christina and Norman Fabry of Alsip and Michael and Jennifer Koenig of Jerseyville; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Ann Koenig. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Florence Oletha Keown. He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Greene County to Otto and Mary (Freand) Dunham. Shortly before his 20th birthday, he married the former Lola Mae Talley on Sept. 30, 1935, in Carrollton. They have shared the past 70 years together. As a young man, he was raised in the Fieldon area and had worked at the quarry and in timber. He retired in 1978 as a laborer at Shell Oil Co. after 35 years of service. During his free time, he enjoyed his family, farming south of Jerseyville near Delhi and fox hunting. He was a devout follower of the St. Louis Cardinals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Glenn Cain of Jerseyville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon, Richard and Ruth Ann Dunham of Kane, Melvine and Joanne Dunham and Carl and Dorothy Dunham, all of Jerseyville; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Russell of Jerseyville and Marjorie Green of Payson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lee Dunham, on June 7, 2005; three grandchildren, Brenda Jo Dunham, in infancy; Kathy Dunham, in 1991, and Bradley Dunham, in 1994; three brothers, Edward, Lester and Robert Dunham; and three sisters, Lillie Mundy, Imogene Burch and Nina Green. Prill of old Kane, whose death occurred at nine-seventeen o'clock Friday morning 3 May at the Jersey Community Hospital where she had been a patient for eight days. Father Paul P. Heinen was celebrant of the requiem mass and burial was in the Kane cemetery. Mrs. Prill, daughter of the late Nicholas and Fanny Pierre Schmittag, was born in Jerseyville 14 January 1897 and her age at the time of deaths was sixty years, three months and nineteen days. In addition to her husband, the decedent is survived by three Sons, Laverne L. Prill of Granite City, Russell H. and Earl E. Prill of Jerseyville; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret L. Foiles and Mrs. Dorothy J. Sauerwein of Jerseyville; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph Schmittag and Anthony Schmittag of Jerseyville. One son, Eugene Prill preceded her in death. He was born in Alsace Lorraine Aug. 5, 1867. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Joseph and Anthony F. Schmittag of Jerseyville; one daughter, Mrs. John Prill of Kane, and seven grandchildren. The body was brought to Jerseyville to the Jacoby Brothers Funeral Chapel where it may be viewed by friends, until time for the funeral. Oates of Fieldon; two Daughters, Connie Benedict of Jerseyville and Jenny Brown of Kent; six grandchildren; a brother and one Sister, Thomas L. Oates and Darlene Dooling, both of Wood River. She was born in Alton on Dec. 2, 1949, one of three children born to James P. and Barbara June (Schmittag) Oates. She married James H. Benedict on Dec. 5, 1964, at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, and he survives. Connie grew up and Jerseyville and attended Jersey County schools. She then went on to attend Benton's School of Cosmetologv in Alton, and began working as a stylist in the salon at JC Penney in Alton. Nearly a year later in 1981, Connie was involved in a tragic automobile accident on her way to work, and was unable to resume her career that she so desired. In spite of her intense pain, Connie never worried about herself. She tirelessly made sure that those around her were happy and she made her home one of peace and happiness. She loved to read and shop when she could, and treasured her time and felt blessed that she could be with her family. Also surviving are her mother, Barbara June Oates of Jerseyville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kim Benedict of Lake Gzark, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and David Ewen of Grafton and Marianne and Tony Bowers of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Ewen, and her fiance, Brandon McCoy, Cooper Benedict, Miranda Benedict, Aleigha Ferguson, Breanne Ferguson, Ricky Ferguson and Drake Bowers; four great grandchildren, Tristan and Tayton Stark and Gavin and Jayden Meyer; a brother and sis-ter-in-law, James H. and Ruth Ann Oates of Jerseyville; a sister, Jenny R. Jenny graduated with the Class of 1969 from Jersey Community High School, and was currently employed as an executive secretary with Blue Cross Blue Shield in downtown St. Louis. She loved to fish, spend time outdoors, work with stained glass, and recently acquired a love of making jewelry. Above all else she was a loving mother, best friend and staunch supporter of her daugter who will miss her deeply, Lori Brown of Alton. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara June Oates of Jerseyville; a brother & sister in law, James R. & Ruth Ann Oates of Jerseyville; a brother in law, James Benedict of Jerseyville; five nieces & nephews along with their spouses, Gary & Kim Benedict of Lake Ozark, Mo., Michelle & Dave Ewen of Grafton, Marianne & Tony Bowers of Jerseyville, Lisa Oates, and her fiance' Justin Huett of Jerseyville, and JD and Tiffany Oates of Jerseyville. James A. Anderson married my father's sister, the former Laura R. Westfall in 1916 in Jersey County, IL. I have been unable to find any information about who James Anderson's parents were. I don't know his date of birth. He died in the 1940's or 1950's in Alton, IL. I think he may have been born in the 1880's or 1890's in possibly Jersey County, IL, or Calhoun County, IL. There are Anderson families in both Jersey and Calhoun Counties in Illinois, but I have been unable to establish a definite link between him and those Anderson families.

They had a daughter Frances O. (Chic) Anderson born 11-12-1916. She died Jan. 2, 2010, at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Alton, IL. Her burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL. On Oct. 6, 1939, in Alton, she married Joseph A. Reed. He preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1990. Joseph Arleigh Reed and Frances "Chic" (Anderson) Reed had a son James A. Reed who lives in Alton, IL. Frances (Anderson) Reed's husband, Joseph Arleigh Reed was born in 1914 in Pearl, Pike County, IL. (He went by his middle name Arleigh). He was the son of John and Nellie (Perry) Reed. He married my cousin Frances Anderson the daughter of James and Laura (Westfall) Anderson.

Besides her husband, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arleigh (Frances) Reed of Alton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Bessie Randall of Summerville, MO; a stepson, Ed Coleman of Godfrey; 1 grandchild; 7 step grandchildren; three brothers, Jasper Westfall of Alton, Floyd Westfall of Medora and Ed Westfall of Pearl; a sister, Mrs. Anna Pitt of Jerseyville and a half sister, Mrs. Eva Haag of Rosewood Heights. Visitation begins after 4 pm. Friday at Gent Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be said at 7 pm. Friday. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9 pm. Saturday at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.

He died at 3:50 a.m. Dec. 21, 1982 at his residence, 206 Sherman St., in Jerseyville, IL. His burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Alton, IL. Joseph I. Coleman had been married before and had a son Edward Coleman of Elsah, IL, and a daughter Bessie (Coleman) Randall of Panacea, Florida.

After his wife the former Laura Westfall's death Joseph I. Coleman remarried to her sister, the former Anna Westfall, the daughter of Jasper Mifflin Westfall and Frances (McCaulley) Westfall, and a sister to my father Walter Edward Westfall. Anna Westfall was born May 19, 1904 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL, and died 10-15-1992 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. She is buried at Grimes-Neely Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. She was married previously to Wesley Charles Griffin. He was the son of John and Alice (Books) Griffin. He was born 7-20-1873, and died 5-12-1943 in Jersey County, IL. They had 7 children-Viola Griffin, Harold Griffin, Eunice Griffin, Geneva "Sissy" Griffin, Melvin Griffin, Norma Jean Griffin, and Virgil Griffin.

Coleman, 81, who died at 3:50 a.m. Dec. 21, 1982 at his residence, 206 Sherman St., Jerseyville. The Rev. V. Clay Noah officiated. He was born Dec. 8, 1901 in Racola, Mo., a son of the late James and Victoria (Robart) Coleman. The World War II veteran was retired from Olin Corp.

His survivors are his wife, Anna Westfall Griffin Coleman; one son, Edward of Elsah; a daughter, Bessie Randall of Panacea, Fla.; two stepsons, Harold Griffin of Washington and Virgil Griffin of Portland, Ore.; three step daughters, Viola Godar, Otterville, Eunice Kessler, Portland, Ore., Geneva McClintock, Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His first wife Laura Coleman died Feb. 26, 1976. The American Cancer Society has been named as a memorial. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery , Alton.

A member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton and the VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary, she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband, who owned Central Ave. Auto Parts in Alton.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Sandra L. and Thomas Fillback of Jerseyville, Susan M. and Jeff Matsche of Godfrey; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bradford A. and Cheri Ozee of Hillsboro, Gary M. Ozee of Stover, Mo.; seven grandchildren, John W. Ozee II, Carrie Cotter, Amanda Ozee, Cassandra Fillback, Kristi L. Ozee, Matthew A. Ozee, Michelle E. Matsche; and a great-grandson, William Cotter.
