My Uncle Floyd N. Westfall's Family

On this page I would like to give you some more detailed information about my Uncle Floyd Westfall's family. Uncle Floyd was my father's youngest brother. Uncle Floyd was born 4-26-1914 and he died 6-3-1991. He was born and raised on his father Jasper Mifflin Westfall's farm with his brothers and sisters-my father Edward, Jasper Jr., Lonny, Laura, and Anna. He married Bertha E. Wanick (born 7-25-1918, died 7-28-2008) on 6-15-1935, and they had 2 children-Floyd Jr. (Sonny), and JoAnn. Bertha was the daughter of Julius and Lula Cornelius Wanick, and had 3 sisters-Alberta, Martha, and Mary (deceased), and one brother Robert. Bertha's father Julius Wanick was born in Taylorville, IL and was the son of John and Rose Ann (Hatfield) Wanick. John Wanick was a Civil War Veteran, and is buried in the Taylorville area. Uncle Floyd and Aunt Bertha are buried in Grimes-Neely Cemetery 4 miles west of Jerseyville, Illinois on Illinois State Route 16.

Floyd N. Westfall's obituary (partial) - Floyd Westfall died June 3, 1991 at Gillespie. He retired as a blacksmith from Laclede Steel of Alton. Born on April 26, 1914 in Fieldon, he was a son of the late Jasper and Frances McCaulley Westfall. On June 15, 1935 in Jerseyville, he married the former Bertha Wanick, who survives. Also surviving are a son Floyd Westfall of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a daughter Joann Brown of Gillespie; seven grandchildren ---

Bertha (Wanick) Westfall's obituary - Bertha E. Westfall, 90, died at 7:58 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at Heritage Manor in Gillespie. She was born July 25, 1918, in Eldred to Julius and Lula (Cornelius) Wanick. Her marriage to Floyd N. Westfall took place June 15, 1935, in Jerseyville. She was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Church in Gillespie and a volunteer at the Gillespie Caring Center.

Survivors include seven grandchildren, Dan Brown, Randy Brown, Michael Westfall, Jamie Westfall, Jason Westfall, and Donna Palicka; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Lyle Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Floyd Westfall Jr.; and one daughter, Joann Brown. Visitation will be from 10 until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Monsignor Larry Auda will officiate. Burial will be at Grimes Cemetery in Jerseyville.

(1) Uncle Floyd and Aunt Bertha's son Floyd (Sonny) Westfall Jr. was born 3-2-1936 and died 10-25-1993. He was in the Military Service and was a U. S. Army Veteran. Sonny was married on (7-27-1957) to Mary Ann Rushton (born 10-14-1940) the daughter of Virgil Rushton (died Apr. 1964) of German ancestry, and Helen Rybitsky Rushton (born 1-15-1913). Sonny and Mary had these children-Donna Marie Westfall (born 5-22-59), Michael Brian Westfall (born 5-2-62), James Allen Westfall (born 7-1-64), and Jayson Floyd Westfall (born 7-16-70). Floyd Jr. (Sonny) is buried in Grimes-Neely Cemetery 4 miles west of Jerseyville, Illinois on Illinois State Route 16.

(1a) Floyd "Sonny" and Mary Ann (Rushton) Westfall's daughter Donna Marie Westfall was born 5-22-59. She married Ronald Palicka in Aug. of 1978. They have 2 sons-Ronald Richard Palicka born in 1979 and Curtis Palicka born in 1981. Ronald and Donna (Westfall) Palicka's son Ronald Richard Palicka is married and has 2 sons.

(2a) Floyd "Sonny" and Mary Ann (Rushton) Westfall's son Michael Brian Westfall was born 5-2-1962. He married Peggy Lutz in 1982 and they have no children.

(3a) Floyd "Sonny" and Mary Ann (Rushton) Westfall's son James Allen Westfall was born 7-1-64. He married Lynn Tamillo 8-22-87. This was her 2nd marriage. She had 3 children from previous marriage, and then James and her had 1 son Joshua James born 7-16-89.

(4a) Floyd "Sonny" and Mary Ann (Rushton) Westfall's son Jayson Floyd Westfall was born 7-16-70. He married 1st. Jane and had 1 son Brandon Floyd. They then divorced in 1997. In Sept. 1998 Jayson married Becky. She had a daughter from a previous marriage. Jayson and Becky are now divorced.

(2) Uncle Floyd and Aunt Bertha's daughter JoAnn was born May 18, 1941 and died June 1, 1997 and was married to Clarence Lyle Brown and they had 2 sons-Daniel Eugene and Randel Lyle. JoAnn's husband Lyle remarried after JoAnn's death to Beulah (Patrick) Clark on June 20, 1998, in Missouri. Lyle died June 1, 2015 in Carlinville, IL.

JoAnn (Westfall) Brown's obituary - Joann Brown died June 1, 1997 at St. Francis Hospital. A daughter of Bertha Wanick Westfall of Gillespie and the late Floyd Westfall, she was born May 18, 1941 in Jersey County. She married Lyle Brown in Gillespie. He survives. In addition to her husband and mother, surviving are two sons, Dan and Diane Brown and Randy and Lisa Brown all of Gillespie; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, and a brother Floyd Westfall. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday by Father Chuck. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

JoAnn (Westfall) Brown's husband Clarence “Lyle” Brown's obituary - Clarence “Lyle” Brown, 73, of Dorchester, IL, died at Friendship Home in Carlinville, IL on Monday, June 1, 2015, at 11:30 p.m. He was born on July 30, 1941, in Eagerville, IL to Lavone Brown and Calista (Smith) Brown. He married Barbara Joann (Westphal) Brown on November 9, 1959, in St Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1997. He then married Beulah (Patrick) Clark Brown on June 20, 1998, in Missouri. He was a retired auto mechanic teacher for Unit School District 7 and was a former Unit School District 7 bus driver and former owner of Gillespie Implement. He was a member of Easy Riders Horse Club and United Methodist Church of Dorchester. He is survived by his spouse, Beulah Brown of Dorchester, IL; sons and daughters in laws, Dan and Diane Brown of Gillespie, IL, Randy and Lisa Brown of Gillespie, IL; step children, Rosalie (Ray) Thompson of Erie, IL, Carol (Charles) Beard of Nilwood, IL, Jeffrey Clark of Erie, IL; grandchildren, Dustin (Dana) Brown of Ruskin, FL, Tyler (Leslie) Brown of Gillespie, IL, Denay Brown of Gillespie, IL, Whitney Brown of Gillespie, IL; 8 step grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Keegan Brown, Hilary Brown; 13 step great grandchildren; brothers, Don Brown of Staunton, IL, Dave Brown of Gillespie, IL, Kenny Brown of Gillespie, IL and sister, Katie Campbell of Staunton, IL. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, first spouse, brothers, Delbert Brown, Bob Brown and sisters, June Campbell and Darlene Bruhn. A celebration of life and luncheon for family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Dorchester Firemen’s Hall on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
