Died 26-09-1970. Tamara Lynn Dunham, 2 days, died at St. Joseph hospital in Alton. Graveside services were conducted with Rev. W. Louis Purcell officiating and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Her parents are Robert & Linda (Fry) Dunham of Jerseyville. In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandparents, Mrs. Kenneth Fry of Jerseyville and Mrs. & Mrs. Robert W. Dunham of Alton, g-grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Otto Kraushaar of Michael, Mrs. Della Fry of Jerseyville and D. Warren of Flint, Michigan, and g-g-grandmother, Mrs. Nettie McCartney of East St. Louis. Arrangements in charge of Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Roger Lee Dunham
Died 20-01-1988. Roger Lee Dunham, 42, died January 20, 1988, at Jersey Community hospital. A Vietnam Air Force veteran, Dunham was a machinist in Owens-Illinois machine shop. He was born in Fieldon, the son of Robert W. & Mabel (Kraushaar) Dunham of Alton. On October 12, 1968, he married Judy (Chipman) Dunham in Jerseyville and she survives.
Also surviving are 1 son, A. C. Dunham at home; 1 daughter, Tiffany Dunham, at home; 5 brothers, Robert L. Dunham of Alton, Tim Dunham of Godfrey, Patrick Dunham of Thibodaux, LA; and 4 sisters, Carol Stout of Jacksonville, Pamela Harrison of Alton, Patricia Bradfisch of Grafton and Lisa Cheatham of St. Louis. Visitation from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, services from First Baptist Church, Jerseyville. Rev. Charles Epperly officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church, where he had been a member and on the Board of Christian Education, of the Children's Home and Aid Society in Alton, of which he was on the board of directors.
Robert Wilson Dunham
Robert Wilson Dunham, 85, died at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1919, near the Fieldon bottoms in Greene County to Joseph Otto and Mary (Freand) Dunham. He married the former Mabel Elizabeth Kraushaar on Sept. 8, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo. She died Aug. 4, 1999. He was raised in Fieldon and attended the Lone Star Country School. He worked on the family farm as a young man, as well as attending to the Jersey County roads. He also worked at the Oak Grove Cemetery before beginning a 35-year career with Alton Box Board, retiring in 1979.
He found much happiness in his daily life, drawing strength from the love of his family, and was the eager coach to his children, not only in many sporting events, but also in the game of life. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, loved to birdwatch and was fond of his cigars.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Stout and Paul Figge of St. Genevieve, Mo., Pamela and Gene Harrison of Alton, Trebe and Denny Bradfisch of Grafton and Lisa and Kevin Cheatham of O'Fallon, Mo.; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Dunham of Pontoon Beach, Ronald Dunham of Alton, Hank and Jane Dunham of Bethalto, Tim and Mary Kay Dunham of Godfrey and Pat and Maureen Dunham of Thibodaux, La.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Dunham Mowen of Jerseyville; 26 grandchildren, Derek and Jason Dunham of Pontoon Beach, Darren Dunham, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in New Mexico, Andy Dunham of Hazelwood, Tiffany Dunham of Jerseyville, James Stout and Holly Stout of Jacksonville, Ill., Ryan Figge, stationed with the U.S. Army in Kuwait, Clinton Figgie of Eureka, Ronnie and Kirby Lacey of Jerseyville, Louie, Scottie and Rhonda Musgraves of Alton, Agatha Dunham of St. Charles, Mo., Kelly and Kacy Dunham of Bethalto, Jennifer Byrd of Alton, Tim Dunham Jr. of Godfrey, Lauren Dunham of Thibodaux, Steven Harrison of Alton, Cody and Jessica Bradfisch of Grafton, Zachariah and Bailey and Ashley Cheatham of O'Fallon, Mo.; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Lola Dunham of Jerseyville; two sisters, Ruth Russell of Jerseyville and Marjorie Green of Payson, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Judy Kraushaar Byrd of Jersey County. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dunham, who died Jan. 20, 1988; an infant daughter, Erma Rose Dunham; two brothers, Edward and Lester Dunham; three sisters, Imogene Burch, Lillie Mundy and Nina Green; and an infant granddaughter, Tamara Lynn Dunham.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Glenn Cain will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Hiram H. (Tooter) McCartney
Hiram H. (Tooter) McCartney rites held in East St. Louis": funeral services for Hiram H. (Tooter) McCartney of East St. Louis, a former Jerseyville resident, were held on 31 May. His death occurred on 28 May in St. Mary's hospital in East St. Louis. He was born on 4 May 1911 in Calhoun county, a son of the late Hiram and Nettie McCartney. Mr. McCartney was a member of Laborers Local 338 of Wood River, American Legion Post 53 of East St. Louis, and was a veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Anna Mae Fallin of Cottage Hills, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Robert and Michael of East St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Meuth of Belleville, Mrs. Terry Meuth of Granite City and Miss Carol McCartney of East St. Louis; eight grandchildren; two Sisters, Mrs. Mary Isringhausen of Danville and Mrs. Otto Kraushaar of Michael; and a brother, Tony, of Wood River. Published, 8 Jun 1972.
Lloyd L. Lyles, Sr.
9 Feb. 1982: Lloyd L. Lyles, Sr., 66, of 707 E. Prairie, Jerseyville died unexpectedly at 11 pm 2 Feb. at the Edinburg General Hospital, Edinburg, Tex. He was born 16 July 1915 at Shipman, a son of James Thomas and Amelia Geisler Lyles and was a truck driver for the teamsters.
His survivors include his wife, the former Mary E. Kraushaar whom he married 18 Jan. 1934 in Fieldon; five sons, Lloyd L., Jr. and Sherman Frank of Jerseyville, James T. of Atlanta, Ga., David of Alton and Gary of Fieldon; Daughters: Charlotte Dawson of Godfrey, Linda Cheek of Delhi and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon; 31 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Harry of Jerseyville; four sisters, Jane Taviner of Hardin, Anna Belle Brown of Gillespie, Fern Krueger of Fieldon and Genevieve Ponataro of Kampsville. Services were conducted at Jacoby Brothers funeral home by the Rev. Wilbert Davis. Interment was in the Fieldon cemetery. The heart fund was named as a memorial.
Mary Edith Lyles
Mary Edith Lyles, 71, died at 4:01 pm Friday, 22 Feb. 1991 at home. Born in Rosedale township, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Charlotte (Atwood) Kraushaar. She married Lloyd Leon Lyles Sr. on 18 Jan. 1934 in Fieldon. He died 2 Feb. 1982.
Surviving are three Daughters, Charlotte Dawson of Alton, Linda Cheek of Delhi and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon; five sons, Lloyd Leon Lyles, Jr. Of Jerseyville, James Thomas Lyles of Winder, Ga., Sherman Frank Lyles of Mount Vernon, David Edward Lyles of Taylorville and Gary Neal Lyles of Fieldon; 33 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Beulah Fryman of Jerseyville; and a brother, Sherman Kraushaar of Jerseyville. Preceding her in death were a grandson; and a sister, Myrtle Delp.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 pm today at Jacoby-Schroeder funeral home in Jerseyville, where services are at 10 am Monday. Kevin Shaw will officiate. Burial is in Fieldon cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Gary Neal Lyles
Gary Neal Lyles, 52, died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at his home after a courageous and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 17, 1952, in Alton, he was the son of the late Lloyd Leon and Mary Edith (Kraushaar) Lyles.
He married the former Barbara Powers on Dec. 19, 1970, in Fieldon. She survives. A lifelong resident of Jersey County, he loved the outdoors, especially those occasions when he was able to spend time with his two sons, whether it be hunting, trout fishing or camping. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Brighton Gun Club. He had been employed for the past 18 years as a machinist at Owens-Illinois machine shop in Godfrey, retiring last year because of his health.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jennifer Lyles of Jerseyville and Joe and Sandy Lyles of Fieldon; three sisters, Charlotte Dawson of Alton, Linda Cheek of Delhi and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon; two brothers, James Thomas Lyles of Atlanta and David Edwards Lyles of Taylorville; his mother-in-law, Priscilla Powers of Fieldon; and three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joanie and Kevin Ruyle and Cathy and RC Beiermann, all of Jerseyville, and Pauline Norris of Hamburg and James Powers of Fieldon. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Lloyd Leon Lyles Jr. and Sherman Frank Lyles, and his father-in-law, John Douglas Powers.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until services at 12:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating. In honor of his service during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army, military rites will be conducted at the Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville by the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492. Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or to St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a member.
Edna E. Wiegand
Died 11-01-11-1982. Edna E Wiegand, 89, died January 11 at V I P Manor Nursing Home, Wood River, where she had resided. She was born in Jersey County and is survived by 2 sons, Robert of Bethalto and Herbert, Alton; 5 grandchildren; 1 brother, Ernest Haushalter, Jerseyville; and 1 sister, Clara Arnold, also of Jerseyville.
Funeral services were held at Smith Funeral Home, Alton. Rev Richard Scott officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Bethalto United Methodist Church.
Robert Wiegand
Robert Wiegand, 71, died at 1:53 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Wood River to Clarence and Edna (Haushalter) Wiegand.
He married the former Dorothy Marie Walden on Nov. 26, 1959, at the First Baptist Church in Bethalto. She survives. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War. He was employed at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft for 40 years and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He was an active member of the Bethalto United Methodist church, where he had participated in the choir, served as a Sunday school teacher, a trustee on various committees and was a member of Bethalto United Methodist Men. He served Boy Scout Troop 103 as a committee member and treasurer for more than 20 years, volunteered at the Hope Center and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three children, a daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law, David and Barbara Wiegand, Sheryl and Randall Kutchma, all of Bethalto, and Cindy and Phillip Warren of Dexter, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Drury, Kellie (Warren) and Tyler Penn, Andrew, Abbie and Oliver Warren, James Ford, Joshua and Grace Kutchma; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Delores Wiegand and Gary and Marilyn Wiegand; and other extended family.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kallal-Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethalto United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Howard White officiating. Burial followed at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military services by Alton VFW Post 1308. Memorials may be made to the Bethalto United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Vera Louise Plummer
Vera Louise Plummer, 63, died at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at her home after a battle with cancer. The daughter of Raymond and Leona (Caswell) Haushalter, she was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Blue Island, Ill. After graduating from Jersey Community High School, she attended Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.She earned a bachelor's degree in library science through Webster University in St. Louis and used her skills as a corporate library clerk with McDonnell-Douglas.
Surviving are her former husband of 37 years and friend, William Clayton Plummer of Rosedale; her companion, Donald Larkin of Jerseyville; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Joseph Bogard of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Haushalter of Kenton, Ohio; and five nieces and nephews, Cindy, Eric, Mark, David and Sheryl. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frederick Haushalter.
In accordance with her wishes, the body was cremated. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fieldon United Church of Christ, where she was a member. The Rev. Barbara Alley will officiate. Burial will be at Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Fieldon United Church of Christ.
James N. Tucker
Died 17-05-1976. Services for James N. Tucker, 85, were conducted on May 19 from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with burial in Fieldon cemetery. The Rev. Dorcie Hill officiated. His death occurred at 5:45 am on May 17 at Jerseyville Care Center. A native of Jersey County, he was the son of Frank & Sidney (Miller) Tucker. Formerly a construction laborer, he was a member of Labor Local 646 in Jerseyville. He is survived by 4 Sons, Arthur, Alfred, Howard and Jerome of Jerseyville; and 1 daughter, Mrs. Ray (Eva) Dunsing of Jerseyville; 17 grandchildren; 35 g-grandchildren; and 4 g-g-grandchildren.
Jerome E. Tucker
Died 15-11-1985. Jerome E. Tucker, 57, of Jerseyville, died November 15 in Normandy Osteopathic South hospital in St. Louis. He was born March 20, 1928, in Fieldon to the late James N. & Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Tucker. He was a truck driver for the Jersey County highway Department for 16 years. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean war. He married E. Lucille (Mortland) on October 15, 1947, in St. Charles, Missouri. He was a member of State St. Baptist church and Labor Local No. 646, master twice for the Hardin-Calhoun Masonic Lodge and honorary master of the Jerseyville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Jerseyville; 2 brothers, Arthur of Fidelity and Howard of Jerseyville; 1 Sister Eva Dunsing of Jerseyville; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Visitation was from 4-9 pm November 17 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Masonic services at 7:30 pm. The funeral was November 18 at State St. Baptist church with Rev. Ron Woodrum officiating. Burial was in Fieldon cemetery.
Mrs. Ellen Lucille Tucker
Ellen Lucille Tucker, 75, died at 5:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Greenwood Manor West Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Batchtown to Walter and Beulah (Funk) Mortland. She was raised and attended schools in Calhoun County. When she was young, she moved to Jerseyville, where she began working at the International Shoe Factory. She soon married Jerome Tucker of Jerseyville, who later retired from the Jersey County Highway Department, on Oct. 15, 1947, in St. Charles, Mo. They had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary before his death Nov. 15, 1985.
Survivors include a sister, Marguerite Peters of Hardin; two brothers, Clifford Mortland of Canton, Ill., and Kenneth Mortland of Hardin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Harvey Mortland.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home (Jacoby Chapel) in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church in Jerseyville, where she had been active in their senior citizen program. Their pastor, the Rev. Jon Lorch, will officiate. Burial will take place beside her husband in the Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church in Jerseyville and St. Anthony's Hospice.
Alfred N. Tucker
Died 04-18-1985. Alfred N. Tucker, 68, of Jerseyville died at 9:34 pm April 18, 1985 at Jersey Community hospital. Born in Jersey County April 7, 1917, he was a son of the late James & Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Tucker. The WWII veteran was a laborer with Labor Local 646, Jerseyville and a member of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. Services were conducted Monday at Faith Temple Pentecostal church in Jerseyville by Rev. Robert McAdams with burial in Grimes cemetery.
His survivors are his wife, Margaret (Young) Tucker whom he married May 18, 1946 in Fieldon; 3 sons, Frank, Kevin and Alfred S. all of Jerseyville; 3 Brothers, Arthur, Fidelity and Jerome and Howard, both of Jerseyville; 1 sister, Eva Dunsing, Jerseyville; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 1 grandchild. Memorials may be given to the church where he was a member.
Howard Hubert Tucker
Howard Hubert Tucker, 79, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Greenwood Manor West Nursing Home in Jerseyville. The last surviving child of the late James and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Tucker, he was born May 27, 1923, in Grafton. He loved being around his immediate family and was known by them as Uncle Howie. He was known to frequent the Stadium Theatre in Jerseyville, where he eventually was hired to assist with the daily routine.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Nellie and Judson Deverger of Fieldon, Sharon Hagedorn of Jerseyville, Danny Dunsing of Kane, Cynthia Martin and Michelle Breitweiser of Jerseyville and many other nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Tucker of Jerseyville and Lucille Tucker of Hardin; and his "special" family, Evie and the rest of the staff at Greenwood Manor West Nursing Home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jesse Cope and Eva Mae Dunsing, and three brothers, Alfred Tucker, Jerome Tucker and Arthur "Bud" Tucker.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home (the Jacoby Funeral Home Chapel) in Jerseyville, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Olin Hill officiating. Burial will be near his parents at the Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Jerseyville Dialysis Center.
Mrs. Martha Jane Raftis
Died 02-06-1960. Martha Jane Raftis, 78 years, 5 months, 3 days, widow of Tom Raftis, died at 6:45 pm Saturday February 6, at Green Lawn Nursing Home. She had been a resident there for 6 days. Funeral services were held at 9:30 Tuesday am February 9, at St. Francis Xavier church . Requiem mass was celebrated by Father Terry R. Shea and burial was in St. Francis cemetery. Mrs. Raftis, a daughter of the late John & Mary (McManus) Hewitt, was born in Jersey County, September 3, 1881. The decedent is survived by 1 son, Donald Raftis of Jerseyville; 1 daughter, Mrs. Truman Jones of Brighton; 7 grandchildren, and 1 Brother, Fred Hewitt, of Fieldon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Raftis.
Mrs. Pearl Margaret "Pat" Raftis
Pearl Margaret "Pat" Raftis, 79, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, at her residence after a period of declining health. She was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Carrollton, a daughter of the late William E. and May-Elizabeth (Henkel) Frech. She attended Greene County schools, and graduated with the 1939 class from Carrollton High School. A member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Parish, she attended Mass regularly until her health declined. She married Donald Raftis on Aug. 12, 1940, in Jerseyville and they resided east of Jerseyville for their entire 61 years of marriage, where they farmed and raised their family. She was an avid 4-H leader, where she taught sewing to countless young women. She worked for many years for the Jersey County Cooperative Extension Service and exhibited her baking expertise at the Jersey County Fair. She enjoyed bowling with her lady friends, and participated in numerous bowling tournaments with them.
Surviving are her husband, Donald; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Merle Megginson of Woodson; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dick and Janice Raftis of Grayslake, David Raftis of Medora, Tom and Sue Raftis of Macomb and Jim and Amy Raftis of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her only surviving sister, Helen (Frech) Rhoades of Carrollton. Three brothers, Jake, William and Paul Frech and a sister, Katherine Richards, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father D. Patrick Gibbons officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Blessing Hospice of Greene County or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Donald F. "Red" Raftis
Donald F. "Red" Raftis, 86, died peacefully at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on the family farm east of Jerseyville in Fidelity Township on April 10, 1919, one of two children born to the late Thomas and Martha (Hewitt) Raftis. He married the former Pearl Margaret "Pat" Frech on Aug. 12, 1940, in Hannibal, Mo., and they shared nearly 61 years together before her death on June 3, 2001.
He attended Jersey Township High School, where he was a standout athlete, and until his death he never missed a Panther football game. "Red" was a member of the Panther "Chain Gang" for 60 years and was recently honored by the school district for his dedication. He was a lifelong resident of Fidelity Township, served on the township board for six terms and was a lifelong farmer who loved to work the soil and watch the crops grow. He served on the board of directors for the Jersey County Farm Bureau and never missed an opportunity to promote the importance of agriculture.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Merle Megginson of Jacksonville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Janice Raftis of Gurnee, David Raftis of Medora, Tom and Sue Raftis of Macomb and Jim and Amy Raftis of Springfield; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a very special cousin, Norman Jones of Jerseyville. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Doris Jones.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father D. Patrick Gibbons officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the Panther Athletic Club or to the Blessing Hospice in Greene County, in appreciation for the loving care they gave to his wife during her illness.
Mrs. Betty N. Willenburg
03/07/2001 -- Betty N. Willenburg, 80, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis County. She was born July 17, 1920, in Jerseyville, a daughter of the late Leonard and Theda (Reed) Hewitt. She worked for the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville before she was married and worked at the Western in East Alton during World War II. She married Francis Charles "Frank" Willenburg Feb. 2, 1946, at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Jerseyville. They were married for nearly 50 years before his death Dec. 16, 1995.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Fran Willenburg of Jerseyville; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Ed Gowin of Kane; two grandchildren, Pamela Royse of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Shawn Clark of Brussels; three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kelsey Royse and Easton Clark; and two sisters, Margie Chapman of Greenfield and Phyllis Yost of Brighton. Preceding her in death were three brothers, John, Jess and Jerry Hewitt.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville with the Rev. Reuben Ankeny officiating. She will be laid to rest in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Joseph Maltimore
Died 20-07-1979. Services for Joseph Maltimore, 60, of Route 3 Jerseyville were conducted Sunday afternoon at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. R. E. George. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. His death occurred at 2:45 p.m. July 20 at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Granite City. Born in Greene County November 24, 1918, he was a son of Edward and Josephine Kraushaar Maltimore. Maltimore was employed at Laclede Steel and was a World War II veteran.
His survivors are his wife, Evelyn; his mother, three Sons, Gilbert of Greenfield, Howard of Fieldon and Larry of Alton; three Daughters, Mary Lou Baker and Carrie Stephens of Jerseyville and Linda Pilger of Godfrey; one brother, Perry of Jerseyville; three Sisters, Mary Foster and Bonita Sherman, both of Jerseyville and Opal Kruckerburg of Godfrey; 10 grandchildren. A daughter, Joann Maltimore, preceded him in death.
Mrs. Annetta Evelyn Maltimore
Annetta Evelyn Maltimore, 81, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at her home. Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Woodville Township in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo E. and Anna (Dean) Cummings.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Maltimore, whom she married Jan. 26, 1937, in Jerseyville and shared 42 years together before his death July 20, 1979; six children and their spouses, Gilbert Lee and Barbara Maltimore of Hillview, Howard Allen and Mary Maltimore of Jerseyville, Larry Gene Maltimore of East Alton, Mary Lou and John Baker of Otterville, Carrie Sue Stephens of Jerseyville and Linda Kay Maltimore of Otterville; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jo-Ann Maltimore, and a son-in-law, Buddy Wayne Stephens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jacoby Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Howard Allen Maltimore
Howard Allen Maltimore, 65, died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1940, in Jerseyville to Joseph and Evelyn (Cummings) Maltimore. He married the former Mary Esther Hewlett on Sept. 22, 1959, in Jerseyville. She survives. He was a laborer with the Local 646 Union Hall in Jerseyville.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Larry Collard of Pittsfield, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Debbie Maltimore and Mike and Patricia Maltimore, all of Jerseyville; six grandchildren, Sara, Rochelle, Raeann Maltimore, Kirk and Kayla Short and Ashlie Stamper; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Carrie Stephens of Jerseyville, Mary Lou and John Baker and Linda Maltimore, all of Otterville; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry Maltimore of East Alton and Gilbert and Barb Maltimore of Hillview, Ill. His parents and one sister, Joann Maltimore, preceded him in death. Per his request, he was cremated. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. Robert McAdams will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
Raymond Maltimore
Died 13-06-1974. Funeral rites were held Saturday afternoon, June 15, at Jacoby Funeral Home for Raymond Maltimore, 53, of 208 Kenwood, Jerseyville. His death occurred on June 13 at Greenwood Manor. Interment was in Fieldon cemetery. He was born may 14, 1921 in Jerseyville, a son of Edward and Josephine Kraushaar Maltimore. He was engaged in maintenance work.
His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alberta Hunter Maltimore; his mother; stepsons, Carl of Dow, Leon and Junior of Brighton, Michael, Frank, Larry, Jerry, Bruce, Mark and David Price of Jerseyville; stepdaughters, Mrs. Sam (Sharon) Woodring, Mrs. Gilbert (Evelyn) Morris of Jerseyville; Mrs. George (Marcella) Branham of Dow; Janet and Ruth Price of Sterling; 25 grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Maltimore of Otterville and Perry Maltimore of Jerseyville; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Pressley and Mrs.wendell (Bonita) Sherman of Jerseyville and Mrs. Leo (Opal) Kruckeberg of Godfrey. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home. Dated 06-20-1974.
Leo Kruckeberg
03/30/98-Leo Kruckeberg, 72, of Godfrey, died Mar. 30, 1998, in Alton Memorial Hospital. He married Opal Maltimore, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a step-son, Robert Reynolds of Jerseyville; a step-daughter, Judith Bell of Houston, Tx.; brothers, Dean of Belvidere, Glenn of Edwardsville, and Dale of St. Peters, Mo.; a sister, Verlene Urekar of Springfield; and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were in Elias-Smith in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to the Dream Factory and Ronald McDonald House.
Mrs. Ruby Genevieve (Lentz) Wilmore
Ruby Genevieve (Lentz) Wilmore, 98, of Winchester, passed away April 15, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Brookview in Indianapolis. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 18, 1911, the third of six children born to Henry and Grace (Westfall) Lentz. She married Charles W. Wilmore of Lynn, Indiana in 1930. During the World War II years, she and her three children accompanied her husband as the Army transferred him to several states and returned to Lynn when he went overseas. After the war she followed him with the two boys to Korea before returning to Lynn. After the children were grown, they moved to Winchester in 1958. She was a wonderful mother to her three children and grandmother to nine grandchildren.
When all the children had grown, she turned her attention to genealogy research. She first researched her husband's relatives and in 1972 published a genealogy book on the Lesley, Wilmore and Griffin families. She then turned to her own family and in 1975 published a book on the Westfall and Shannon families. She then began an in-depth research of the Westfall family which continued until she published Westfall Research in 1985. She donated copies of her work to libraries throughout the United States. Copies of her work can be found in the Randolph County Museum and in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC as well as in many other libraries. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and sisters, by her husband of 66 years, Charles W. Wilmore, her son John H. Wilmore, her son-in-law, Leon Zimmerman, and her grandson, Steven L. Zimmerman. She leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Phyllis Zimmerman of Indianapolis, a son, Charles Wilmore, Jr. of Springfield, Va.: grandchildren, David Zimmerman and Linda Zimmerman of San Francisco, John C. Wilmore of Houston, Texas, Jeff Wilmore and Lucinda Wilmore of Los Angeles, Garry Wilmore of Phoenix, Arizona, Michael Wilmore of Baltimore, Md., and Valerie Burton of Manassas, Va., as well as six great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester. Friends and relatives may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Walker Funeral Home in Winchester. Wilford A. Lane, 74, of Troy, Ill., born April 25, 1936, in Stewart County, Tenn., died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Troy, Ill. Mr. Lane had a great love for his family and God. He was a computer programmer for the U.S. Government for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi V. and Annie Maxine, nee Martin, Lane. Surviving are his wife, Ruth E., nee Mereidith, Lane whom he married on Dec. 15, 1956, in Granite City, Ill.; his children, Greg (Missi) Lane of Maryville, Ill., Jeff (Becky) Lane of Crystal Beach, Fla., and Michelle (Eric) Wortham of Collinsville, Ill.; brothers, Vernon Lane of Erin, Tenn., and Wendall Lane of Germany; sisters, Linda Martin of Clarksville, Tenn., and Alice McAdory of Smithfield, Va.; grandchildren, Sarah and Rick Goettsche, Laura Lane, Jessica Swingle, Josh and Kathy Lane, Caleb Lane, Aleah Lane, Ryan Wortham, Ren'e Wortham and Rachel Wortham; great-grandchildren, Gabe Quayle, Gracie Goettsche, Ethan Single and Wyatt Lane.
