(Note: I believe Isaac Davenport's mother was named Savannah Davenport (maiden name or husband's name unknown) born 1800 in North Carolina. She is listed in the Roane County, Tennessee 1850 Census at the same time as Isaac and his wife Sarah and their little son James. Also listed with her in the same household are possible children-Absalom Davenport born 1826 in Tennessee, Elihu Davenport born 1831 in Tennessee, Elisha Davenport born 1820 in Tennessee, James Davenport born 1815 in Tennessee, and a girl Phoebe Richey born 1836 in Tennessee. Gary Davenport's 2nd wife Doretta M. (Stewart) Davenport's obituary - JERSEYVILLE - Doretta May (Stewart) Davenport, 78, on Sunday April 23rd at 7:55pm in Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jerseyville, Illinois, surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and loved ones singing hymns and songs of praise left these prison bars of flesh to join a heavenly choir. She will blend her sweet voice with voices far sweeter than any heard here on Earth. Born in rural Nebo, Illinois on July 22, 1938, Doretta was the fifth child of Harold Everett and Chloe Edith Deardeuff Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters - Frieda Pauline Rodhouse (of Pleasant Hill), Verna Lea Stewart (an infant) and Norma Jean Dyer (of Nebo). A “Daddy’s girl” growing up in Pike County, she loved the outdoors - fishing with bare hands, walking creek beds in bare feet. She witnessed the birth of many an animal and developed a strong nurturing instinct. Faith was a key part of her upbringing. Her maternal grandmother was a street preacher. Once, while playing hide and seek with her cousins, she fell down a cliff and hit her head. She walked a quarter-mile home and there she laid unconscious for three days. They didn’t go to the doctor - mother prayed. At age 17 she moved to Jerseyville to help care for her aging Grandma Deardeuff and there she finished out her senior year at Jersey Community High School. After graduating, Doretta gained employment in the mailroom at Olin, advancing to the Blueprint Department and finally Quality Assurance. On March 27, 1970 she married her best friend, Gary L. Davenport and served as a home-maker until 1979 when she went to work in the Accounting Department at Roper Plastics and after they closed as a part-time Administrative Assistant at Hedges Chiropractic. Loving God and service to others was the central theme and the passion of her life. A member of Gospel Assembly Church, the Doretta was a Sunday School Teacher in Jerseyville for decades where she taught the same faith in Christ that had and continued to sustain her. Many of the young people in her classes grew to be her church family - a family that brought her much joy all throughout her life. She was a lover of music and her beautiful voice could be heard in multiple groups at her church - usually the part of high tenor. She was also a member of the church band starting out with clarinet but finding trombone the most fun. Doretta was creative, talented, compassionate, unselfish and patient. Together with Gary, she raised a son Michael Leon Davenport (Hope) and a heart-daughter Rebecca Jane Davenport Myers (Timothy). She derived the greatest joy being a grandmother to eight grandchildren; Jacob Timothy Myers, Sarah Elizabeth Myers Wilson (Gary), Mikah Christian Davenport, Judah Daniel Davenport, Phoebe Elizabeth Davenport, Moriah Grace Davenport, Moses Benjamin Davenport, Haven Lael Davenport and a great-grandson Braden James Myers - all of Jerseyville. Thomas Prewitt

Thomas Prewitt was born abt. 1616 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, and died in 1692 in Charles River Co., Virginia. "Early Virginia Immigrants" by G.C. Greer, Clerk of the Virginia State Land Office contains a list of 25,000 persons who came to Virginia from 1623 to 1666 along with the patentee or person who brought them over. In this list is Thomas Prewitt, May 6 1636, indentured by Joane Bennet to Charles River County, Virginia. Joane Bennet received 450 aces in Charles River County, Virginia, upon the Poqueson River, east towards the bay, west into the woods, north upon the Pinye Swamp (river), and south upon Robert Thrasher. 50 acres due for transfer of eight (8) persons...Ann Winter, John Roote, Jon Marshall, Andrew Chant, Jon Morris, Pole Carplights, and Thomas Prewitt. Joane Bennet was a Quaker. Thomas Prewitt was thus brought over to America as an indentured servant. Once a person served five years they received 50 acres of land. On June 2,1636, Thomas Prewitt was granted his 50 acres of land in Clarles River County, Virginia, being a neck of ground at the New Poqueson, west upon William Clark a creek, then east upon Thomas Harwood a creek. The said 50 acres of land being due upon him the said Thomas Prewitt for the transportation of one servant into this colony. It appears that Thomas Prewitt and wife were Quakers and not married by the rules of the established church. Charles River County, Virginia, was changed to York County.

In 1646, Thomas Prewitt confessed that he borrowed a canoe from John Wilson and lost it. He was ordered to pay Wilson 2 bushels of corn for the next November 1. This is from records of York County. In 1647, John Thomas has an attachment against Thomas Prewitt to secure a debt of 600 pounds of tobacco. On May 24,1648, Thomas Prewitt confesses judgement to Robert Abrall for 1202 pounds of tobacco to be paid the next October 10. He placed three cows as bounty in the court of York. In 1648, Thomas Prewitt confessed judgement to William Hockaday for 1 1/2 bushels of corn and 56 pounds of tobacco. On July 25,1648, whereas Thomas Privett and his wife were presented to his court for committing fornication and thereof found guilty. Court ordered that they shall do a pennance in the parish Church on the New Pawqueson and during the time of devine servis the next Sabbath Day. The church wardens ordered to see this done. Pruitt and his wife to appear at the next Court to abine further censure. (York Order Book 2, page 387) and (Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Volumn 26, page 9). This was because they were not married in the State Church of England. This was part of the persecution of the Quakers. On December 6,1648, Thomas Prewitt binds himself to pay John Madison 600 pounds of tobacco before next October 1, a steer, and a heifer as security.

The name of Thomas Prewitt's wife is unknown. Children of Thomas Prewitt were-William Prewitt (1651 - 1748); Henry Prewitt (1654 - 1722); and John Prewitt (1658 - ).
