Continued from Related Families Page 2 information about the descendants of Frank Kraushaar Sr. who was my mother's grandfather on her father's side (My great grandfather). Frank Kraushaar Sr. was born about 1836 in Prussia, Germany. He came to America and settled in the Jersey County, Illinois area in about 1860. He and his wife Julia were listed in the Jersey County, IL 1860 census for Richwood Township. The Kraushaar name is misspelled Krausse or Crouser in some of the old census and other records. The 1860 census said he was a shoemaker. He later became a farmer in the Fieldon, IL area. He died in Sept. 1879 on his farm near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Julia Anna Albert. She was born about 1842 in Prussia, Germany. She died about 1900 on farm near Fieldon, IL. They had 9 children--Frank Kraushaar Jr., Joseph Kraushaar, John Kraushaar, Charles Kraushaar (my mother's father), Anna Kraushaar, Rosa Kraushaar, Mary C. Kraushaar, Josephine Kraushaar, and Elizabeth Kraushaar. After my great grandfather Frank Kraushaar Sr's death his wife Julia (Albert) Kraushaar remarried to William Weisner 5-19-1881 and they had 2 daughters, half sisters to my mother's father, Catherine Weisner and Lena Weisner.
(4) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's son Charles Kraushaar was my mother's father and my grandfather. Charles Kraushaar was born 7-4-1875 near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He died 11-23-1947 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. He married Caroline H. Haushalter 4-14-1898, was the daughter of George and Margaret (Schiller) Haushalter. She was born 7-14-1881 near Fieldon, Jersey County, IL. She died 7-17-1937 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar had 4 childen-Elizabeth Kraushaar, Freda Kraushaar, Lovie Kraushaar (my mother), and Raymond Kraushaar.

My mother Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's father, and my grandfather, Charles Kraushaar's obituary - Charles Kraushaar, a retired farmer of Jerseyville, died suddenly at his home here Sunday evening, November 23, 1947 at eight fifty-five o'clock. An inquest was conducted by Coroner H. W. Gubser Monday evening and death was atributed to natural causes, acute dilation of the heart. Members of the jury were Clem Schleper, B. A. Marsden, jr., Fred woolsey, Edward McGowen, S. E. Stroud, and Aron Cope. Members of the Kraushaar household testified that the deceased had complained of difficulty breathing Sunday, but his condition was not considered critical. He was fatally stricken about eight forty-five o'clock and died before a physician could be summoned.
Mr. Kraushaar was the son of the late Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar, and was born near Fieldon, July 4, 1875. He has resided in Jersey County all of his life. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. John Horn of Caseyville and Mrs. Edward Westfall of Fieldon, and one son, Raymond Kraushaar of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Gubser Funeral Home Wednesday, November 26, at two o'clock. The Reverand V. D. Gibson of Alton officiated and interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Kraushaar died Tuesday, July 27, 1937 at her home in Jerseyville, Ill. at 7:00 p.m. aged 56 years and 13 days. She was the beloved wife of Charles Kraushaar. Funeral services will be held at Jacoby Brothers' Chapel Thursday, July 29th, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. George R. Vawter officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Horn in 1-1-1920. He was the son of Philip and Emma (Doll) Horn. John Horn was born 4-8-1896 in East Saint Louis, St. Clair County, IL. He died 2-6-1981 in Waverly, Iowa. He was in the Military Service in the U. S. Army and was a World War I Veteran. John Horn's father Philip Horn was born in Germany 6-14-1865, and died 12-28-1927 in East Saint Louis, IL. He was a stone mason. John Horn's mother Emma (Doll) Horn was from Lebanon, IL. She died in 1898 shortly after the birth of John's brother George Horn. John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn had one daughter Mary Alice Horn.

Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's obituary - Mrs. John Horn, 77, 201 Iowa, Waverly, Iowa, passed away Wednesday nigt, September 29, 1976 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital where she had been a patient for 10 days. Elizabeth M. Kraushaar was born July 12, 1899 in Fieldon, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. On July 1st 1920 she was united in marriage to John P. Horn in East St. Louis, Ill. The couple lived in East St. Louis until 1939 when they moved to Caseyville, Ill. In 1964 they moved to Waverly. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Waverly.
Survivers include her husband, John, one daughter, Mary, Mrs. Earl Gibson of Shell Rock, Ia., one sister, Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Pearl, Ill., nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 2, 1;30 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Waverly with the Rev. Royce Wolden officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls.The Kaiser-Carson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

His burial was in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, in Waterloo, IA. He farmed in Iowa. He was in the Military Service and was a U. S. Air Force Veteran. Earl and Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson had 9 children-Mona Gibson married Albert F. Rahlf, the son of Albert and Velma Rahlf of New Hampton, IA, and lives in Waterloo, Iowa; Stuart Gibson married Tari and lives in Woodstock, Georgia; Laura Gibson married Larry Miller and lives in Fairfield, Iowa; Duane Gibson married Julie and lives in Shell Rock, Iowa; Wylene Gibson married Gregory Heidorn and lives in Rochester, Minnesota; Peggy Gibson married Allen Jacobs and lives in Jefferson, Iowa; Karen Gibson married Ray Johnson and lives in Belgrade, Montana; Kent Gibson married Brenda and lives in Denver, Iowa; and Brad Gibson married Becky and lives in Charles City, Iowa---John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn lived in Caseyville, IL where he worked at a steel mill in St. Louis, MO, and later retired in Iowa near their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson.

Mary A. (Horn) Gibson's obituary - Mary Alice Gibson, 79, of Denver, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. She was born March 31, 1929, in East St. Louis, Ill., daughter of John P. and Elizabeth Kraushaar Horn. She married Earl Gibson on June 13, 1947. He died in June 1993. Mrs. Gibson and her husband farmed near Shell Rock from 1953 until retiring in 1985.
Survived by: five daughters, Mona (Albert) Rahlf of Waterloo, Wylene (Gregory) Heidorn of Rochester, Minn., Laura (Larry) Miller of Fairfield, Peggy (Allen) Jacobs of Jefferson and sons, Stuart (Tari) of Woodstock, Ga., Duane (Julie) of Shell Rock, Kent (Brenda) of Denver and and Brad (Becky) of Charles City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. (1aaa) John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's granddaughter and their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson's daughter Mona (Gibson) Rahlf and her husband Albert Rahlf's 40th wedding anniversary announcement - Albert and Mona Rahlf will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Lake Superior for a sea kayaking excursion. A card shower is also planned. Albert Fred Rahlf and Mona Cara Gibson were married June 27, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Mr. Rahlf is a substance abuse counselor at Pathways Behavioral Services, and Mrs. Rahlf is a registered nurse working in ambulatory at Allen Hospital. Phil's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Military Graveside Rites presented by the Donald Harper Post #5720 V.F.W. Visitation will be Friday, from noon until the time of services at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home, Dayton, is in charge of arrangements. Philip Edgar Scott was born on May 21, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Anson and Genevieve (DeGriselles) Scott. He attended country schools in Minnesota. At the age of 17, Phil enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Tingey. In 1957, Phil was united in marriage to LaRita Marlene Vladeff. To this union four children were born: Tamara, Teresa, Thomas, and Troy. Phil and LaRita later divorced. In his earlier years Phil worked at the Lehigh Lumberyard and later worked for Webster County Road Maintenance.Phil belonged to the Donald Harper Post #5720 V.F.W. His hobbies included woodworking and collecting belt buckles. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and playing cards in downtown Lehigh.
Survivors include four children, Tamara Scott of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Teresa Gibson of Canton, Georgia, Thomas (Cindy) Scott of Vadnais Heights, Minn., and Troy (Penny) Scott of Lehigh, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pauline (Verneal) Goertz of Canton, Minn., Betty Scott of Superior, Wis., Ruth (Bob) Shuman of Keokuk, Iowa, Margaret Efner of Worthington, Minn., and Mary (Lawrence) Weigers of Long Prairie, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. (3aaa) John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's grandson and their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson's son Kent Gibson's wife Brenda (Kurtt) Gibson's father Harold John Kurtt's obituary - Harold John Kurtt, 80, of Denver, Iowa, died on September 11, 2005, at his home due to complications of cancer. Harold was born on January 14, 1925, in Denver, Iowa, the son of Fred and Christine Schmidt Kurtt. He attended school and graduated from Denver High School in 1942. Harold enlisted in the United States Army on August 7, 1943, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He served as part of the 712th Tank Battalion in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns under General Patton during World War II. He was honorably discharged from military duty on October 31, 1945, and received Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. Following his discharge, Harold returned to Denver. In 1957, he took over the family business, Kurtt Shoe Repair. On October 3, 1959, he was united in marriage to Virginia Reynolds at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In 1960, Harold began working as a rural mail carrier. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1991, and still owned and operated the shoe shop until ill health forced him to retire earlier this year. Harold was very active in the Denver community. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Acker-Matthias American Legion Post # 653, Denver Lions Club, Denver Community Club, Willow Run Country Club and was a member of the Denver Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Harold enjoyed fishing and golfing, but especially enjoyed spending time socializing with his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Denver; three children, Julia Lampman of Dunkerton, Iowa, Brenda (Kent) Gibson of Denver and William (Liz) Kurtt of Waverly, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Art Kurtt of Denver and John (Laurel) Kurtt of Waverly; and four sisters, Frieda Kurtt of Waverly, Dorothea Gleason of Denver, Marie Meyne of Waverly, and Bobbi (Joe) Blanchard of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Erwin Kurtt; and one sister, Elenora Brunstein. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. Burial will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery with military rites conducted by the 1st Squadron 113th Cavalry of the Iowa National Guard and the Acker-Matthias American Legion Post #653 of Denver. John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's grandson and their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson's son Kent Gibson's wife Brenda (Kurtt) Gibson's mother Virginia Mae (Reynolds) Kurtt's obituary - Virginia Kurtt, 83, of Denver, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at her home in Denver. Virginia was born February 14, 1931, in Bennington Township, the daughter of LuVerne and Leona (Parker) Reynolds. She was baptized April 12, 1931 at Mount Hope Church and confirmed November 24, 1959, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. She graduated from Denver High School in 1949. She then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Following her schooling, she lived in Chicago for a short time before returning to Waterloo to work for the Credit Bureau. On October 3, 1959, she was united in marriage to Harold John Kurtt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Virginia worked primarily out of the home, but did help at the family business, Kurtt Shoe Repair, on occasion. She also worked for 25+ years at The Hairloft in Denver, retiring at the age of 82. Harold died September 11, 2005. Virginia was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday and Bible School for several years. She was an active member in the Denver American Legion Auxiliary and fully supported the Denver Volunteer Fire Department while Harold volunteered as a firefighter. She also volunteered many years at the voting polls. She enjoyed spending time with her grand and great grandchildren, traveling, nature and wintering in Texas. Virginia is survived by three children, Julia Lampman of Denver, Iowa, Brenda Gibson of Denver, and William (Liz) Kurtt of Waverly, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Marlys) Reynolds; sisters, Sara Lahmann and Susanne (A.C.) Gerdes. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold; brother, Bill and a sister, Patricia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver with burial in the church cemetery. She attended school in Keosauqua later attaining General Education Development certificate on June 3, 1981 from Indian Hills Community College. Ruth was baptized on March 7, 1977 in Centerville, IA at the Church of Christ. Ruth was a homemaker. Surviving are her two children: David (Dave) Emory and wife Christy Miller of Fairfield, IA; Lila Denise (Lila D.) and husband Scot Lecy of Lexington, SC.; eight grandchildren; one sister: Twyla and husband Gerald Miller of Marion, IA; two brothers: Harold of Davenport, IA., Larry and wife Laura Miller of Fairfield. She is also survived by her former husband, Duane Clubb. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: James (Richard) of Woodland, CA, Gale of Brighton, IA; Allen of Granger, IA; and sisters Ida Mae Leib of Atkins, IA; Janet Long of Keosauqua, IA; Lila Beth Simmons of MO. She was united in marriage to Raymond Jones. He died in 1986. Betty worked as a cosmetologist.

Per his wishes no funeral is planned. Jerry was born August 9, 1951 in Sheldon, IA to Fredrick and Faye (Shaner) Calnon. Most recently he was employed as coordinator for both Jefferson County 911 and Emergency Managements until health forced his retirement. His favorite past time was doing things with 3 of his grandchildren, Chandler, Blake and Julian and going to their ball games and events.nHe was a member of the Jefferson County Police Reserve and a Mason. He is survived by his significant other of 21 years, Janet Ford; 3 sons, Daniel, Brian and Benjamin; two step daughters, Stephanie Humble and Lynn Carnes; and 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Her father Donald Mortimer died in Dec. 2000. He married Betty (maiden name unknown) Sept. 1, 1956. Becky's mother Betty Mortimer was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Becky's parents lived in Charles City, Iowa where Betty was a realtor. Brad and Becky Jean (Mortimer) Gibson are the parents of 2 sons-Jacob Gibson and Andrew Gibson who is married to Danae.

Hewitt was born 5-5-1884 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL and died 5-12-1936 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. He was the son of John G. and Mary (McManus) Hewitt. His father John G. Hewitt was born 10-12-1840 in East St. Louis, IL, and died 6-25-1923 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL, and was the son of Eliphalet and Martha (Stites) Hewitt. William A. Hewitt's mother Mary (McManus) Hewitt was born 4-17-1856 in English Township, Jersey County, IL, died 12-20-1921 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. She was the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Dabbs) McManus. John and Mary (McManus) Hewitt had 6 children-William A. Hewitt Sr, Fred Hewitt, Leonard Hewitt, Martha Hewitt, Maggie Hewitt, and Kate Hewitt.

Freda (Kraushaar) Hewitt's obituary - Mrs. Freda Hewitt of the Union Forest vicinity died Saturday morning, March 16, 1946 at 1;50 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton where she had been for treatment for the last seven weeks. Mrs. Hewitt was the daughter of Charles Kraushaar of Jerseyville, and the late Mrs. Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar, and was born in Jersey Conty on January 13, 1902. Her age at the time of death was 44 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Mrs. Hewitt was the widow of William A. Hewitt and until recently had operated a farm in the Union Forest vicinity.
Surviving Mrs. Hewitt are one daughter, Miss Helen Hewitt, and one son William Hewitt, both of Fieldon; her father, Charles Kraushaar of Jerseyville; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Horn of Caseyville and Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Fieldon; and one brother, Raymond Kraushaar of Jerseyville. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, March 18, at two o'clock at Jacoby Brothers' Chapel in Jerseyville. Reverand Vernel Gibson of Collinsville officiated and interment was in White Cemetery.

He was born April 4, 1897 in Jersey County, the son of Jasper and Frances (McCaulley) Westfall. He was a veteran of World War I, and a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall whom he married in February of 1921, a daughter Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Alben of Godfrey; a son Walter C. Westfall of Pearl; a sister Mrs. Anna Pitt of Jerseyville; two brothers, Floyd Westfall of Medora and Jasper Westfall of Alton; a half sister Eva Haag of Alton; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1;30 p.m. March 19 at Gubser's Funeral Home with Brother Joseph Rowlett of the Christian Church of Pearl officiating. Burial was in Grimes-Neely Cemetery, rural Jerseyville. The family designated the American Diabetic Association as a memorial.

Lois's mother Pearl (Morris) DeBoard is the daughter of Clifford Keasler Morris and his 1st wife Lily Davis. Adolph and Pearl (Morris) DeBoard had 3 children-Lois DeBoard who married Russell Thompson of East Alton, IL, Sherrell DeBoard who married Frank Ulett of Godfrey, IL, and Mark DeBoard of Fairbanks, Alaska.

She helped for many years at St. Kevin’s in different parts of the church. She was involved with the Wood River Sportsmen Club and Jerseyville Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included crocheting and waxing cars. Mildred married Joseph Alben on November 11, 1944, at Cherry Street Baptist Church and later remarried in the Catholic Church at St. Mary’s in Alton. He preceded her in death in 2000. Survivors include one son and his wife, Russell and Lois Thompson of Rosewood Heights; three grandchildren and their spouses, Terri and Mike Harvey of Alton, Melanie and Dave Moore of Alton, Lesley and Alan Kolesa of Troy; six great grandchildren, Nicholas, Whitney, Alexis, Jenna, Tyler, Lily; four great-great grandchildren, Logan, Kelsie, Corbin, Olivia; and one brother Walter Westfall of Pearl, IL. (1aaa) Clifford and Marilyn (Baker) Kraushaar's daughter Kimberley (Kraushaar) Dixon's husband Melvin Lee Dixon's obituary - Melvin Lee Dixon, 66, died suddenly at 6:21 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at the scene of an automobile accident just north of Otterville on Otterville Road. He was born on Oct. 28, 1944, in Calhoun County, one of four children born to Milo and Zoe (Pegram) Dixon. Melvin graduated in 1964 from Calhoun High School in Hardin, and held various jobs in the local factories before accepting employment with the City of Jerseyville, where he served with the police department for 16 years. He then began over the road truck driving, and was currently employed as a driver and hauler for A&F Trucking in Jerseyville. Melvin served several terms on the Otterville Town Board and was a member of the Jerseyville Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association, and enjoyed restoring cars and riding Harley Davidsons. He married the former Kimberley Kraushaar on Nov. 3, 1981, in Alton, and they soon were to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, surviving are four children and their spouses, Steve and Julia Dixon of Fieldon, Sandra and Robert Lenington of Goodfield, Pamela Sue Dixon of Niagra Falls, N.Y., and Nathan and Melissa Lueker of Andalusia, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Karrick of Jerseyville and Mary Lou Briggs of Virginia state; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville. Melvin Lee Dixon's grandfather Leonard Milton Dixon's obituary - His team of horses standing faithfully by, the body of Leonard Milton Dixon, 69, a farmer of Piasa township, two miles north of Delhi, was found in a field, a quarter of a mile from his home, Tuesday afternoon, by his daughter-in- law, Mrs. Milo Dixon, who had gone to search for him when he did not return to the house for lunch. The team of horses, hitched to a wagon, that he had driven to the field early in the morning to husk corn, apparently nad not moved more than a few feet in the several hours that had elapsed since the death of Dixon and the time the body was found. At an inquest conducted this morning by Coroner H. H. Seely at the Jacoby funeral home in Jerseyville, a jury returned a. verdict of death from heart failure. It was believed that Dixon had succumbed to the fatal attack soon after leaving the house in the morning. It was thought that he had stopped for a few minutes to repair a pig-pen before starting to husk corn, as the body was found near the fence of the pen. He had worn a heavy coat on leaving the house in the morning, and he had the coat on when found later in the day, a fact that led relatives to believe that he died soon after leaving the house as it was thought that he would have removed the coat to work. Dixon was born Nov. 30, 1869 in Calhoun County and had resided In the Delhi area for about 12 years. With him on the farm were his wife, Mrs. Lulu Dixon, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Dixon. Other survivors include two sons, Lee and William of Batchtown, and a daughter, Mrs. Ray Fuller of Calhoun County; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Boucher and Mrs. Delia Fischer, St. Louis, and Mrs. Emma Blumenberg, Hamburg; and a brother, Perry He leaves six grandchildren. The body is at Jacoby funeral home, Jerseyville, pending the time it is to be taken to Batchtown, for funeral services. The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Batchtown. The Rev. F. M. Hodger of Alton will officiate.

Melvin Lee Dixon's great grandfather Jacob Dixon's obituary - Jacob Dixon was born in Gilead, Calhoun County, Ill. April 6, 1840; died at his home Tuesday February 19, 1901 at 7:30 P.M.; aged sixty years, ten months and thirteen days. When at the age of six years he, with his parents, moved to Wisconsin and living there but a few years, returned to Calhoun County where he remained the rest of his life. He was married to Miss Susan Stone. To them eight children were born, three of whom have preceded their father to that bright eternal shore. Leonard Perry, Mrs. Gustave Blumenberg, Mrs. Tony Baker, and Miss Anna, and a fond and loving wife are left to mourn the loss of a true and loving father and husband. Mr. Dixon was loved by all who knew him. He was always making friends wherever he went. He always led a true and honest life and provided well for his family. In or about 1887 he, with his family, moved to what is known as Bull's Landing, living there for a few years; he then moved into the Calhoun Club House, still attended to the landing until about two years ago, when he purchased property in the Village of Gilead and living happy until February 14; while he was loading ice he took suddenly ill, and on the following Tuesday he was called away to the One who doeth all things well. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Michelle (Mark) Heitzman of Otterville; three granddaughters; several extended family and friends. At his request, cremation rites have been accorded. She was born in Alton on Jan. 8, 1981, the youngest of two daughters born to Lawrence and Evelyn (Kraushaar) Chevalley. Jessica attended Jersey Community High School and graduated with the class of 1999, where she obtained academic honors. She worked for a short time at Dawn's In Town Grooming in Jerseyville, but for the most part, she enjoyed staying at home listening to music on her iPod, reading or being on her computer. Jessica was very loved and was a wonderful daughter, sister and was a very proud and doting aunt to her three nieces. She enjoyed her life, as her entire life was spent surrounded by those that loved her most and loved her dearly.
Surviving are her parents, Larry and Evelyn Chevalley of Otterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Mark Heitzman Jr. of Otterville; three nieces, Brittany, Autumn and Stephanie Heitzman; her grandparents, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Imogene Chevalley. He was born in Pine Valley, Ok., on Feb. 22, 1937, the son of the late Ona R. and Evelyn (Upchurch) Ramsay Sr. After the death of his father at a very young age, his mother remarried Almarsten Tracy Hale, who also preceded Onie in death. He graduated in 1955 from MarVista High School in Imperial Beach, Ca., and while residing in California, he had worked as a service manager/shop manager at Scott Machinery as well as a John Deere dealership both in San Diego. He and his wife, Shirley, moved out of California in 1990, and located in the small community of Otterville. He soon began employment as a mechanic and shop foreman for Bob Cunningham Waste Disposal of Medora, and provided the residents of Otterville a pleasant little grocery store known as F.O.G.S. (Friendly Otterville Grocery Store) for numerous years. He married the former Shirley Ann Cason on Sept. 12, 1965 in Winter Haven, Ca., and were just shy of 10 days of celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary, prior to her death on Sept. 2, 2011. He then married Lena (Hetzel) Miller on Nov. 17, 2012 at the Fieldon Baptist Church. (Stewart) Davenport's obituary - JERSEYVILLE - Doretta May (Stewart) Davenport, 78, on Sunday April 23rd at 7:55pm in Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jerseyville, Illinois, surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and loved ones singing hymns and songs of praise left these prison bars of flesh to join a heavenly choir. She will blend her sweet voice with voices far sweeter than any heard here on Earth. Born in rural Nebo, Illinois on July 22, 1938, Doretta was the fifth child of Harold Everett and Chloe Edith Deardeuff Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters - Frieda Pauline Rodhouse (of Pleasant Hill), Verna Lea Stewart (an infant) and Norma Jean Dyer (of Nebo). A “Daddy’s girl” growing up in Pike County, she loved the outdoors - fishing with bare hands, walking creek beds in bare feet. She witnessed the birth of many an animal and developed a strong nurturing instinct. Faith was a key part of her upbringing. Her maternal grandmother was a street preacher. Once, while playing hide and seek with her cousins, she fell down a cliff and hit her head. She walked a quarter-mile home and there she laid unconscious for three days. They didn’t go to the doctor - mother prayed. At age 17 she moved to Jerseyville to help care for her aging Grandma Deardeuff and there she finished out her senior year at Jersey Community High School. After graduating, Doretta gained employment in the mailroom at Olin, advancing to the Blueprint Department and finally Quality Assurance. On March 27, 1970 she married her best friend, Gary L. Davenport and served as a home-maker until 1979 when she went to work in the Accounting Department at Roper Plastics and after they closed as a part-time Administrative Assistant at Hedges Chiropractic. Loving God and service to others was the central theme and the passion of her life. A member of Gospel Assembly Church, the Doretta was a Sunday School Teacher in Jerseyville for decades where she taught the same faith in Christ that had and continued to sustain her. Many of the young people in her classes grew to be her church family - a family that brought her much joy all throughout her life. She was a lover of music and her beautiful voice could be heard in multiple groups at her church - usually the part of high tenor. She was also a member of the church band starting out with clarinet but finding trombone the most fun. Doretta was creative, talented, compassionate, unselfish and patient. Together with Gary, she raised a son Michael Leon Davenport (Hope) and a heart-daughter Rebecca Jane Davenport Myers (Timothy). She derived the greatest joy being a grandmother to eight grandchildren; Jacob Timothy Myers, Sarah Elizabeth Myers Wilson (Gary), Mikah Christian Davenport, Judah Daniel Davenport, Phoebe Elizabeth Davenport, Moriah Grace Davenport, Moses Benjamin Davenport, Haven Lael Davenport and a great-grandson Braden James Myers - all of Jerseyville. Johnson of Nutwood, Crystal Lynn Angel of Jerseyville, Sara & Brian Beauchamp of Godfrey, Ed & Tracy Keele of Tampico, IL, Mandy & Aaron Blackford of Godfrey, Sandy & Joe Lyles of Jerseyville, Ty & Vickie Johnson of Jerseyville, and Melissa & Mathew Portell of Nashville, TN; twenty five great-great grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Lauren Dahlke, Ethan Armstrong, George, Kristin and Isaiah Moore, Devon, Dylan, and Kendall Angel, Chloe & Ella Beauchamp, Sierra Young, Gage Wendle, Alisha Wetzell, Dalton Keele, Cooper Lyles, and Elijah Blackford, Tyler and Carson Johnson, Cassie Delp, Alicia and Jimmy Taylor, Parker and Samantha Lewis and Harrison Portell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, George Johnson and Curtis Allen Johnson Jr., three grandchildren, Shannon and Darryl Johnson and Heather (Johnson) Wendle; two sisters, Helen Douglas and Mary Cannon. In celebration of her life, private visitation and funeral services will be held at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial will be private at Otterville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jerseyville Food Pantry. (5) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's daughter Anna Kraushaar was born in 1877 near Fieldon in English Township, Jersey County, IL, and she died in 1960 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. She married 1-7-1919 John Carroll. He was born in 1879, and died in 1938 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. They had no children. They both worked at a shoe factory in Jerseyville. They are both buried at St. Francis Cemetery in Jerseyville.
